A stock option is the right to buy a specific number of shares of company stock at a pre-set price, known as the “exercise” or “strike price,” for a fixed period of time. Each option contract represents 100 share, so it's a leverage vehicle which must be respected. But when used right and price goes in your direction, the rewards are incredible.

Intel reported earnings this past week and had you been following Intel over the last 6-9 months, you would know AMD was stealing market share because of Intel's manufacturing woes. Thus, it was another disappointing earnings report.
