Thinking long term: My 5 year plan on Hive

Ive had alot of time to think about my long term plans with crypto, and the platforms I am on. Most platforms I am on and crypto I own I plan to hold until a nice profit is made and then cash out. This is not the case for me on Hive. I do not think I am powering down any time soon. Of course live happens randomly and I cannot promise such things as you never really know what life brings to you.

I have almost completely powered down from Steem and moved 3/4 of the funds into my Hive account. The rest went into LBRY staking and Splinterlands cards and DEC. I plan on buying a little more to bring my effective Hive Power at 100k HP. Ill be a few thousand short of that after I finish powering down my Steem so ill buy a little on an exchange to get me there.

Its all about the numbers, long term post-halving

With 100k HP that will give me enough voting power to reward everyone that has been influential to me on the blockchain. And pretty sure many will return the favor. Using an even number like 100, it makes it easy for me to calculate a vote weight for a post. As I vote mostly based on the users stake on the platform.

Right now I make anywhere from $3 to $15 a post, sometimes upwards of $40 but its uncommon. That is with the current price of Hive around 25c. Since i am thinking long term, these small payouts do not worry me. We just had Bitcoins reward halved, and history tends to repeat itself. Ive been around since 2012 and saw it multiple times with every halving that occured. I think its very possible we will hit all time highs again within five years, probably much sooner. Another halving is scheduled in four years so my thoughts are maybe we will see double all time high after the next halving in about four years from now. A conservative number would be $40k per BTC with the next all time high. And then double that on the next post-halving bringing BTC to over $80k a coin. Of course this assumes Bitcoin stays relevant and has usefulness between now and the next five years.

So if we did see Bitcoin rise to such levels, chances are altcoins will rise as well... including Hive. I think the next all time high for Hive will be close to $10 when BTC hits its next all time high. Let alone the next post-halving all time high, maybe $20 a Hive at that point.

Now that we are not beholden to Steemit Inc's slow development, I think Hive will grow by leaps and bounds. And when people are getting $100-1000 payouts on posts, the FOMO will be massive and bring Hive into the top 10 altcoins. Just as Steem was at one point. So if Hive ratcheted up the rank we would see a much higher coin value than what I mentioned in the previous paragraph.

Having a hundred dollar upvote

If we saw such a moon or double moon in the next five years, that would bring my upvote from currently $1.60 close to $100.00 or maybe more. Having such a stake is extremely influential, and by helping others in countries where the dollar goes a long way I can really support content creators I believe in. Giving someone an upvote worth tens of dollars can be a full days pay for many people in other countries. Maybe not in the US, but it goes along way in other places.

I could keep posting earning from upvotes at that point, or just do curation and get a healthy return with the 50/50 split. Or lease out my Hive and give me a steady income to withdraw, no need to power down. Just take the rewards, hold for a year to minimize my capitol gains taxes and then sell to support myself. With these rewards that are not powered up, it will help pay for travel, equipment and other living expenses to make more high quality content for the Hive blockchain. I have already been able to buy a new camera with the rewards Ive made from blogging on Hive. Looking forward to the rewards scaling up so I can afford to take trips to interesting places further away from home and document and record it along the way to share with the community.

I have enough holdings in other altcoins where I would not need to powerdown from Hive if other alt's performed in a similar matter. As it seems when Bitcoin rises, it raises the level of all alts.. so to say. So I dont see myself powering down Hive even at such high valuations. Ill just sell coins that I think its their time to be sold based on their gains.

Making money gaming

Splinterlands is the number one dApp on all Blockchains and its been a big reason for me to invest so much in Hive. I also own a few hundred dollars in cards and DEC. If we saw Splinterlands take off it could bring my collection to tens of thousands of dollars. And by leasing cards, or playing ranked battles with high level valuable cards could bring in some good income. Im sure other games on Hive will come along and maybe ill have even more games to play and earn tokens that I can then support myself on.

I also post all of gaming footage I collect as I play different PC games and older games on emulators though those are just my common posts on the Hive platform. Not sure how well they will do as we see a growth in Hives value. I hope all my posts do better in general.

2020 and moving forward

I plan on posting every day, as I have been doing for over two years now. Finding new communities to be a part of, posting in the ones I already know about, replying to my comments, curating, and finding new followers. Joining in discussions on the Minnow Support Project and other communities built around Hive. Maybe ill host a podcast at some point. Or maybe if my bee boards and Hive laser etched logos catch on it will be a nice source of revenue.

Having a first mover advantage is quite powerful and glad I started making friends during the bear market. As when people flood in due to FOMO its hard to remember all the new faces.

Glad many creators, curators and witnesses know who I am and I have already started to establish relationships with people on the platform. People tend to remember who are "fair weather friends". And who stuck around through the dark times.

Maybe ill consider becoming a witness as well in the future, though I dont think I would get anywhere close to the top 20 at the moment. But I could see in a few years if I make enough friends prove my worth on the blockchain maybe I could get voted in and be a part of securing the Hive blockchain one day.

Maybe RPC node operators will be rewarded in the future and I could just run one of those and not care about getting votes to become a witness.

Time will tell how this all plays out, but if it goes to plan this will be huge and life changing.

This is just my thoughts on crypto. I am not a financial expert so not take this as advise. Do your own research and decide for yourself.
