Decentralization is the topic of the day. The technology world is filled with people who are working hard to bring this to fruition.

While the mega-technology companies appear to be getting more powerful, individual coders are taking upon themselves to start producing the protocols that will pave the way to a decentralized web.

HackFS is a hack-a-thon that brings coders from all over the world together in an effort to get the resources for future growth in this area.

Here is a short video that is worthwhile to watch.

Decentralization is obviously something that we discuss in the cryptocurrency world. The reason why I post a video like this is to show how the concept is truly a larger trend that is taking place. It is in the viewfinder of a lot of people.

When we consider how much of our world is truly moving online, the digital realm flipping to a decentralized medium will really alter the power distribution on a global scale.

What is not often discussed is the impact this will have on governments. As we transition into a world that is more digital, their influence will lessen. It is inevitable that the virtual networks have more impact. As they say, your local government does something, it might have minor impact. Yet, if Facebook bans you, your entire online world, business and/or personal, is affected.

It is encouraging to see projects like this. As the video shows, it is likely a few businesses will come out of these hack-a-thons. Some could end up growing in size and impact.

The idea that our information has to be uploaded to a server that a large-centralized company owns in an era where peer-to-peer transactions can occur. Why can't we send the information directly to the person we want to?

This is a concept that will expand in nature. More people are honing in on what exactly is taking place within the large technology companies.

Fortunately, they have the ability to, collectively, change it.
