Hi Everyone,

What an exciting fortnight for all Splinterlands players. From the increase of DEC prices, exploding rental markets, influx of players, record numbers of spell books sold and of course SPS, I can feel that it is harder to move up the ranks this season. My once what I thought was an acceptable team to stay comfortably in Diamond league is starting to feel a little hard to keep up with certain splinters so I decided to bite the bullet and invest in upgrading some of my existing cards. I did say I was hoarding cards before but most of them are a bit short to the next level (as a few of requires 30+ more cards), I have been holding out until now. I am afraid as the number of players join increase, the rate of the cards will increase faster than I can react so I'll have to get them once I have made a decision.

The first one I decided to level up is the Silvershield Sheriff as I found I used it more and more often with high level mana battles. The thing was I only had on level 5 which had the snipe and piercing ability which was sufficient before the influx of players and have been able to hold on. I decided to level up to 6 as I get the extra protect ability. With my life summoner, I already have amour but with the extra protection for the team, I find I am ahead against with my opponents. Of course, it depends what the opponents use but in most cases, I am much better off than having this card sitting on level 5 (good but not great!). This comes with a price. I was holding a nice amount of this card but not enough so I had to get around 10 more to level up and have a few left over if I decide to rent them out to new players in the future.

Normally I would use my DEC to pay for the cards but DEC is pretty valuable now for the SPS airdrop so I decided to buy credits with my HBD and levelled this card immediately. It was about an extra $16USD for those extra cards as everything has gone up in price (again regretting not spending more on cards before) but it is a small price to stay competitive in this league. I am on the lookout to level up a few more cards with my most played teams but would have to find time after all the homeschooling, Discord and Telegram assistance I am providing for Splinterlands. I have to say the last fortnight has been a bit up and down for me due to what is happening in Sydney at the moment and is glad I still have my Hive and Splinterland buddies to keep me sane.
