I have noticed that on my accounts, I am getting instant upvotes almost as soon as I post. My understanding about upvotes is that the sooner your post gets upvoted, the less your rewards for the post. Ideally, the greatest reward would be if a post were to get a vote after five minutes. Or, you would want to get a vote as close to 5 minutes as possible.

So, I'm guessing that the purpose of instant upvotes is to sabotage the work of others so that the reward pool gets back the rewards for the post. If this is the case, it's a dirty trick.

Alternatively, instant votes may be an incorrectly set curation trail that did not account for the 5 minute wait, or as close to five minutes as possible. It could be a mistake.

It is possible I misunderstand how upvotes work and I am displaying my ignorance.

Whatever the case, it is discouraging that I have been placed on curation trails that are blocking me from getting rewards. It turns out that most of my rewards have been the result of comment curation. I wish there were some way to block others. Even if they intend to help, they are doing it wrong and are causing harm.

What would be the protocol? I could message them and let them know that their curation is harmful. I suppose it is worth seeing it as a simple mistake before jumping to conclusions.
