As promised in my latest post, today I have something really, really sexy for you . It's small, but shinny. And amongst one of the most expensive and precious items in my treasury! A Sovereign (British coin) back from 1966:

It's funny. A coin slightly smaller than the 1 euro coin, is worth almost 400 times more today, thanks to all that precious gold inside it :D

As you may know, there is nothing particular about this gold coin. No collective value or whatever. Just a regular gold british coin like the many circulating out there. It's about 7.98 g heavy, with a composition of  .917 gold and .083 copper. On the one side it features Queen Elizabeth II and on the other saint George killing a dragon. Just head over to wikipedia if you want to learn more about these coins!

I bought this baby a long long time ago, I think a decade or something ago and if memory serves me right I paid a bit less than 200 euros. Not bad! I wish I had bought more but I was young and most of my money was spent on alcohol. Oh well. We live to learn!

Enjoyed the post? Check out my other treasures !

Photo's by me, not free for reuse. Please contact me first. Or just be an asshole and steal them anyways.
