My main reason for powering up... 😀😀😀😀😀😀

Back when I started here, I never thought I’d be able to put money into the platform. I imagined that it would be a long time before I could invest anything and that by that time the price would already be skyhigh. I thought I would just be earning as much as I could and that would be that.

At that time, I thought that having more influence in the platform would make it easier to get attention on my posts. I was essentially hoping for more power for my own benefit. It’s not as if I didn’t ask want to reward good material and people who could use the upvotes. I did! But I was focused on this idea of things being easier for myself. Might as well be honest!

A lot has changed since then, I’m no longer hoping to reach masses of people through my posts. I’ve finally gotten used to the way this place works, We’re all pretty busy creating and so it’s very rare that a post draws dozens of views, let alone hundreds of thousands or millions. I’m ok with that now, I’m in my groove.

Because I never expected to be able to invest in the platform, you can imagine I was pleasantly surprised when hive split from steem right as I came to access to some old savings from years ago. The price was extremely low at about $.11 and I felt more excited about the community than ever.... and now I had some cash to invest.

It wasn’t a ton but it was enough to give me a little bit more weight at the platform. I can’t remember exactly how much I grew but I think I almost quadrupled my stake.

I’d still like to buy more if I have a chance but my reasoning is totally different from what I thought it would be. Once I became a dolphin at the platform, I realized that my vote could make someone’s day. For some users in some places, it could actually make their life easier. Even in some of the poorest places one single upvote May not make a difference but overtime I could support users who are doing their best and overtime levels could make a difference in their lives.

I know some people want to stock up in order to earn a profit, or because they feel this platform is destined for greatness. Some have big ambitions, and I guess I may have a few of my own. But really the coolest thing about having a bigger stake at the platform is that you can make a difference in peoples lives. There are some people who deserve more support, more attention, more love, more resources. I see a lot of them here.

I sure would love it if my vote could buy someone a meal. That’s the end game for me in this ecosystem. I have things I want to grow and build, but when I push that buy button, I’m thinking about making someone’s day, or making many people’s days by showing support for their good work.

I’m not sure how much more I can buy in right now but I’m keeping my eyes open on the markets in hopes that I can grab some more soon. The hive cross culturecommunity seems to be finally taking off and there have been lots of good posts there this week. I want to be able to support them as much as possible.

Speaking of The community, I'd like to find a curator so we can apply for OCD support. I am spread so thin right now that I know I can't commit to Curation, but I'd love to find ways to reward anyone who can help with that. Let me know if you are interested.
