As I write these words, five of our community elected witnesses are back in the top 20. And that's a great thing!

A Look BEYOND Ourselves...

It's only natural that all our focus be on what's happening right here in our back yard, which is as it should be.

Not only do we need to focus on getting more community-elected witnesses back in the top 20, but we need to put some distance between those witnesses and the 20 sock puppets.

Enough distance, that it would be a huge investment causing a massive pump in the price of Steem to execute.

Because I don't think there are any more places to "borrow" Steem to power up... and we much be prepared to wave proof and words like "Securities fraud" at any exchange considering it... and depending on not having their reputations completely tarnished.

But "Beyond Ourselves..."

This is more than just "The Battle for Steem."

As many may know, this story is now hitting broader media... including Yahoo Finance, and beyond...

The "Bigger Picture" here comes to life because now we are being watched. And it has become more than just about Steem, now it's about whether or not a decentralized system can stand up to — and weather — the efforts of established centralized ways of doing things.

In other words, we are not only fighting for our community... we're setting a precedent that may just start swaying people away from their skepticism about decentralization as a viable model.

Voting for Witnesses

If you have never thought it was "important" to vote for witnesses, or you felt your stake was "too small," now is the time to change that, and VOTE!
If you have voted for witnesses (thank you!) but have some votes still open... USE them! Until a few days ago, I still had 3 unused votes.
If you have voted for witnesses (thank you, again!) and did use all 30 votes... but you did this a LONG TIME AGO, time to check your witness voting page! Are you voting for disabled or inactive witnesses? Undo those votes and throw them to someone in our elected top 20, currently those sitting between 27th and 35th, in particular. Very soon — perhaps before I even finish this post — @ausbitbank and @someguy123 will start drifting up through the ranks... so let's keep the momentum going!

But WHY Care?

From where I'm sitting, it's a bit like this:

We were a nice little community with our own community organized farmer's market where all our local growers would offer their fresh wares.

Now someone has come in and wants to tear all that down to build a Super Wal-Mart, where you will have no choice and no place to buy and sell veggies freely.

Vote, because it's the right thing to do...
