It's Time For Natural Selection

When this whole covid-19 madness started, there were all kinds of rumors, theories about how it started, where it started, who's responsible. Some said the virus has been created in a lab, intentionally and has a certain economical purpose, it was meant to rearrange the economical leaders on the board. I don't know if that's true, but after learning more about it and seeing the effects it has created, it reminded me of Hitler's plan, the ethnic cleansing, along with killing the ill and those who were not young and fit.

It sounds brutal but this virus is kind of killing those who are ill, the old ones that are not fit anymore. Many of them have already died and who knows how many are going to die in the near future.

Before you jump to conclusion, I'm not supporting any of these ideas, I believe everyone has the right to live and everyone deserves the best care, no matter how ill they are. No doctor has the right to decide who is going to live and who is going to die. Unfortunately in many countries doctors were forced to play God, to choose as supplies have been limited. Normally this should never happen.

Natural Selection?

Nature usually takes care of this, animals and plants that are strong survive, the rest ... it depends. Once I was complaining about how unfair it is to care for the garden, put in hard work, water everything on a daily bases and even so some of the plants don't survive, while the weeds are growing like hell, without any help or care.

I was told that's not exactly true, as there are many types of weeds but only the strong ones can survive, but we don't see that as weeds is weeds and out enemy. This is very true, I've never thought about it like that.

Natural selection happens in life all the time but maybe we don't realize it or just don't look at it like that. The strong ones succeed, the weak quit.

Natural Selection On Economical Level Too

Some of the covid-19 pandemic effects are already visible and there's more to come, unfortunately. These are only the short term effects, the long term effects are coming later and are going to affect everyone, no matter how wealthy or poor you are. Obviously some will earn less but still plenty to have a good life, while others will be hit hard.

Many businesses have closed as they were already struggling when the lockdown happened and had no reserves to survive a hit like this. Others are still trying to survive by cutting costs here and there, where they can. Increasing consumption, selling more is essential if they want to survive.

The other day I wanted to buy some vegetables and chose a small shop not far from my home as I know they have a vast variety and can get what I want. After looking around I picked only a cabbage and when I wanted to pay, I was told I can't pay with my credit card as the amount of purchase is too low. I need to buy at least 2.5x that in order to pay with credit card. I asked the shop keeper if she has the number of the consumer protection office as that must be displayed in a visible place to everyone. You can call this green number free of charge in case you think rules are not respected or you as a customer are nor respected. The woman said it's displayed in the back storage room. Imagine my surprise. One slap after the other. I asked her who is it displayed for as customers can't see it. She said for the consumer protection officers, when they come to see it. 🤦‍♀ At that point I said good bye and left without buying anything.

Shops are obliged by the law to accept credit card payments, regardless of the amount you buy. There's a fee for every transaction that is paid by the company, that's what the shopkeeper said is the reason they are not accepting credit card payments under 10 lei, which is a little over €2. This is not only a violation of the law, but also dumb. You can chase away customers with this behavior and you're also liable to a fine, which I believe it's not cheap.

We live in a world where electronic payment is the future, even though in my country cash is less likely to disappear soon. You can't reject evolution and the faster you adapt, the better for you. These costs can be incorporated in the price of products in a way you still make ends meet and avoid getting fined.

The other incident, that was even worse, happened in a small grocery store. You need to know that in Romania wearing a mask in any kind of store or shop is mandatory. Before I go in, I'm always putting on my mask and never go out without one.

When I entered the shop, I saw a shopkeeper filling up shelves without wearing a mask, which itself is a huge violation. I stopped at the meat section and waited. She saw me, so dropped filling up shelves, went back behind the counter and asked me what I want. Bang! Another slap on customers face.

I said I want nothing. You don't have a mask although I'm required to wear one if I enter the shop. You didn't even wash your hands before serving me, so I want nothing. - and left.

Since the outbreak I'm paying more attention to where I'm buying from based on how they treat customers. I'm not willing to support businesses that are disrespecting customers and putting them in danger, knowingly. It's a fierce fight among businesses, there's no balance between supply and demand, supply is more than demand as many people have lost their job and have less and less money to spend. They better start acting like they really care about customers, or they will be out of business soon. I'm not willing to risk my health and my family's health because they are sloppy and don't care and nor should you.

Natural Selection On Hive

Natural selection is everywhere, even on Hive, maybe you just don't see it. I've been here two an a half years now and have worked hard to get where I am now. Have invested my time, knowledge and skills to get here. Others have invested fiat as well.

There's the everlasting dispute about stake or cash out everything. Some like to stake and help building up this place to be the best, while others say the stake is theirs, they do what they please with it. If you look at my wallet, you know where I stand, no need to explain.

While both parties are right, earning on Hive is only possible if some users decide to stake their Hive and use it to curate. So those who are often saying what a great place Hive is because they can earn a few bucks and cash everything out, should never forget that this is possible due to those who are staking their Hive selflessly.

Just as in real life, I'm not eager to support those who selfishly cash everything out, and just take, take and take without giving back anything. Their more than generous 100% upvote worth nothing can't help anyone here. Now you can throw stones at me for my position on this, here I am. These people will be left behind shortly.
