The Future of Air Travel based on the Effect of Covid-19
I was at the airport yesterday and things had changed. Unlike the crowded airport where people would take a taxi to, go into the check in room, exchange documents and tickets, sit in the barding/waiting room for your flight to be called and at the same time you go into a restaurant or café while you wait. After which you board a crowded plane to another region. Covid-19 changed a whole lot of things about the airline industry and do not forget that the airline industry and several airports were shut down due to the Coronavirus spread but towards the end of the month of June 2020, a lot of countries opened up their airports and allowed flights except for the fact that there are now strict rules and safety tips to follow.
In most countries, everyone is expected to wear a nose mask to prevent airborne spread, but in few countries other safety measure are taking into place. I saw in a news that in India, people who would go for a flight would need a contact tracing app as part of their document for travelling. Other countries requires the passage of luggage through a UV light for safety purposes.
Unlike the time when the airport was always full, this time it is very scanty with people obeying social distancing rules. I saw a lot of social distancing drawings on the ground and around the walls, there were spaces to stay while there is someone at the front. A few little modifications on personal check in without touch is now being used, instead it uses swipes and other people are told to use their personal mobile phones to check in. There are more cameras now in the airport than previously, the cameras this time are meant to check for temperature and detect people with a fever.
The future of air travel will be very different as airline companies are doing their best to make sure that safety is determined and a person with the virus isn’t moved to another region. In the future, we might have an airport app which will help people get whatever they want at the airport.
The aviation industry would change, the way we do things at the airport will change in the nearest future. Passengers would have to board plane in numbers and in batches even as they wear mask, planes would have more space than usual and so on. We hope for the future of air travel to be safe.
