Artificial intelligence has become a part of our lives and it is very rare for a person to go through a day without making use of an AI or utilizing the function of AI. You know it is something impressive to see Computers thinking for themselves and helping to make a lot of things easier from improving automation to interacting with us, assisting in finding out about diseases and viruses like the Blue bot AI that first discover the COVID-19 virus in Wuhan, China, the ability to produce new medication and vaccines and the ability to solve complex calculations. Artificial intelligence have done great deals in our world and it must be known that although AI became a major thing in the 21st century, scientist have thought and knew that someday, computers will be able to think on their own, which means that some people already created a foundation for what we are enjoying and living with currently, a few of them are;

Frank Rosenblatt

Known as the pioneer of artificial intelligence, Frank Rosenblatt an American psychologist worked first on artificial intelligence in the year 1957. He didn’t call it artificial intelligence, rather he called it the Perceptron which was a digital neuron network which was able to mimic a few brain Neurons. The perceptron was able to learn by what it saw and its first task was to classify images based on sex (either male or female).

In 1958, the news had traveled far and the media published that the Perceptron was the embryo of an electronic computer which would be able to talk, walk, see, reproduce itself, as well as being conscious of its existence but things may have it, Franks Perceptron didn’t do any of this things because the computers available then could not do much, also he had used only a single layer of artificial neuron network.

Geoffrey Hinton

You must have heard of him as he is regarded as the Google brain. Geoffrey made a theory that the human brain was made up of neuron network. Geoffrey said that a node is an artificial neuron and a node is functional depending on the weight which is the strength of the connection between the neurons. Geoffrey has authored hundreds of books on AI. Unlike Frank’s single neuron network, Geoffrey worked on multiple layers of neuron network known today as deep Neural Network. Geoffrey and his student Yann Lecun were able to make computers learn from their mistakes and correct themselves. Geoffrey’s neural network had a few issues which were slow and lack of computing power, and the Lack of data.

Geoffrey didn’t give up but rather still continued in his dream which made him the father of artificial intelligence till date. With the improvement in the speed and computing powers of recent computers, as well as with the increase in available data, artificial intelligence now can work really well. Geoffrey now shares his time as being professor in Toronto University and Google as the vice president.

The New artificial intelligence

Recently, a lot of scientists and entrepreneur now uses AI, like tesla which now has its own self-driving car powered by artificial intelligence. It is believed that with AI driving cars, the number of accidentwill reduce. Other businesses like TIcTok, Google, Amazon and others now use AI. It is believed that the best of AI is yet to be seen but will be in the year 2040 when artificial intelligence is going to reach singularity when AI passes human intelligence. At this point, AI will be able to regenerate themselves and do things without the intervention of humans, create new tools and machines that humans cannot think of.

What do you think will happen if we reach singularity?
