Tron and Steemit: The honeymoon was slightly agitated...

During these last days I tried to understand the reasons of what was being communicated by tron in connection with the purchase of steemit. I have to admit that the initial medium article could be interpreted in different ways and many of them sounded quite hostile towards the steem community. Are steemians really in danger to loose their beloved blockchain? It really sounded that way. After some thinking, I came up with another interpretation:

Why communicate the purchase of steemit on 14.2.2020?

This date was not chosen out of the blue. This was the date when Voice was going to open beta in the USA. When I look at this, I can't help to think that the main purpose of the communication of the purchase of steemit was chosen to attack Voice and to take away publicity from their beta opening.
This makes much sense to me. Justin Sun's main target is to create the number one ecosystem to develop d'apps. What is his main opponent in this? The EOS blockchain. Voice was actually planned to run on EOS but it seems that this has changed. I'm not sure about it but it was Justin and Ned that talked about that in the first minutes of their AMA. EOS offers similar services as Tron and there is another point that connects the whole story: Dan Larimer. He is at the head of EOS and of Voice. Let's not forget than Dan and Ned created Steemit together and it's possible that there was a fallout between Dan and Ned. I have no confirmation for this but I could imagine such a thing.

So this merger and also it's timing makes a lot of sense. Tron manages to take away the spotlight from Voice and acquires an alternative to voice in the social media sector. At the same time it's pay back time for Ned. By selling Steemit to Tron, he can really hurt Dan and EOS.

Why the clumsy wording and the shock-wave through the steem ecosystem?

I believe that Justin Sun doesn't have any concrete plan for steemit yet. The acquisition of Steemit made a lot of sense. The tron network has now a very well tested social network at its disposition with many users. It can compete with Voice on EOS. The message on medium was aimed at the markets and the crypto press. There was maybe not much thought behind the wording. What they wanted to highlight was that Tron now has social media in their portfolio and that it will bring a lot of active users.

Justin Sun wanted to influence the markets and the crypto world. He didn't think much about the steem users I believe. I also don't believe that he expected such an outrage in the steem community and the AMA was much more conciliatory I believe.

The steem community is very much alive!

What I learned from this few days is that Steem is an amazing community and that this social media has much more reach than any other social media website like facebook, twitter or instagram. Steem is one big family that doesn't always agree on everything. If there is something important happening however, there are our very influential witnesses and influencers that spread these news to every corner of the community. The response is amazing. The community stands quite united and I believe that the people of Tron have realized this now. I believe that they will take care how they will communicate in the future. Between us, what is Steemit and Steem without the Steemians? Tron bought us not a product or a blockchain. So I believe that it is in Tron's best interests to make us happy...
