Like a strange wind, the hit of coronavirus hit the world and what started like a joke began to spread like wide fire consuming every aspect of the world and hitting the world at a time when no one expected it. For the first time in the lives of some of us, we experienced a complete lockdown in the whole world, it became a crime for anyone who is not a military personnel to move around freely and everything was on stand still.

As if the period when we had to stay at home was not enough to make us feel sad, it was added with a routine of hunger for some people who depended on daily income to sort out their livelihood. Some parents had to watch their kids stay hungry and have nothing to eat for the whole day (a terrible experience), there was no one to beg either since everyone locked their doors and refused to let strangers in.

The period of the pandemic was serious but the effect was even more after the lockdown was eased. In my country, people were shouting at the government to set us free and allow people move about their daily activities freely without being disturbed and since the lockdown was greatly affecting the economy of the nation, government authorities listened to the plea of the people and allowed movement with rules on protecting ourselves against the virus.

Life Case Study on how the Pandemic is Affecting People in my Location.

The lockdown has been eased and some families have little to eat, there is a woman who initially sells provision and soft drink close to my business area, before the pandemic she started making what we call awara (soya beans cake) and she will hawk but since the pandemic, she will split the soya bean cake into different bowls and each of her children except the last child will hawk under the hot sun, the instruction given to each child is to sell every of the soya bean cake.

For those who have been reading my blog, you remember I told you a story of one of my customers who was complaining about how the pandemic deprived him of collecting three months’ salary and I encouraged him to stay happy since he was asked to resume after the lockdown was eased but unfortunately, he was laid off yesterday and he now has to stay at home since he has no other way to earn.

Another story is that of my staff, I noticed that sometimes she comes to work without food or cash, I asked and she explained to me that her sister with whom she is currently living does not get much customer since the pandemic started and the only time they have something to eat is when a customer comes around.

Even my Mum who is a school proprietor has not been going to work since the pandemic started and that means she has not been getting any cash since that time, I try to support the family in my own little way but the situation is not really pleasant.

Important Conclusion.

If after this pandemic, you still have a good way to earn and keep your body, soul and family together no matter how little it is, do not take it for granted and also stretch a helping hand to those who might not have anything to survive on this period. This post is not to speak for the entire country, but sharing the experience based on my current location.

Thank you so much for reading my blog stay beautiful and amazing, I am @oluwatobiloba.
