I'm aware of the several educational packages offered online as enlisted in this Forbes piece which could help some persons to edge up with cryptocurrency and blockchain technology knowledge, however, we are very far from approaching mass adoption with the current level of cryptocurrency education. The truth here is that most of these studies are online based and suitable for those who would have had a prior knowledge of blockchain and cryptocurrency.

However, Africa is a ripe market for blockchain technology and cryptocurrency yet, the level of ignorance on the subject of blockchain and cryptocurrency is quite alarming and a threat to the future of money. Many out of ignorance are trying to embrace cryptocurrency without being schooled on the subject and end up in the hands of scams.

Investopedia reports that "Cryptocurrencies have shown relatively low correlation to economic fundamental data and other markets, leaving technical analysis and crypto-specific news as the main drivers for analyzing them." I commend the great efforts of the Binance Academy and LeoPedia but they are far from the masses' reach in the interim with the technicalities and huge terminologies associated with cryptocurrency which presently lacks realtime linkage and applications which would have aided explanations.

As of today, apart from Proof of Brain (PoB) concept which blockchains such as Hive and Steem are showcasing, Proof of Stake (PoS) and Store of value (SoV) are just showing how new the technology lacks practical implementations. Even though there have been many early adapters, the ecosystem as a whole involves a lot of learning, especially for those looking to come up to speed. Many people in the cryptocurrency world as of today cannot vividly explain concepts that transpire around their transactions.

This represents a massive opportunity as well as a pitfall for those who are on the outside looking in. - source

The Way Forward

I am advocating for a rigorous blockchain and cryptocurrency education curriculum designed for cultural integrations as the best way to reach mass adoption. There must be a deliberate presentation of digital currency as that which could be utilized in everyday transaction from buying in grocery stores to education and transportation. This would pave way for the academics to use and cite as case studies in class lessons.

Research sponsorship in tertiary schools is an amazing to bring blockchain technology and cryptocurrency knowledge to the fabrics of the society. It would be cool to have a graduating student write about a choice cryptocurrency project in the Final Thesis and such projects fully sponsored by the blockchain. This could crave more interest and participation as well as encourage a rigorous and quality work.

It's not enough to set-up projects and dapps with huge financial implications, it is important to be worried with who'll utilize the creation. While training and education may seem to be intangible, but it is crucial factor to the adoption of cryptocurrency projects.
