source At one point or another we've all heard the saying that take one step at a time, focus on the next important thing, take each day one at a time and so on. I'd emphasis on its importance and how we can achieve it accordingly.

One step

When you embark on a journey, you don't expect to get to your destination in a flash, you take one step at a time. When you sign up for a gyming program, you don't expect to finish all your workout routine in one session. It has to be systematic. This is applicable to when you start a new task, a career etc, you don't expect to get it done or get to your peak at once, you have to take a step at a time.

It is expedient to sit down every morning and ask that question - What should I do today? What will I achieve today? How will I work towards making it happen?

My "One Step" Experience

I use to detest a course so much when I was in the University that I would intentionally decide not to attend lectures. The reason for hating the course may be due to the stories I had heard from my senior colleagues that time. "The course is difficult", "No matter how much you read you will fail", "the lecturers are wicked", these and more are what I have been fed with even before I started my first class. Hmm.

I failed my assessment tests woefully when the result came out because I didn't even attend classes not to talk of reading for the course. I passed other courses brilliantly because I put in efforts. I realized I may be having an extra year if I failed my examination. The assessment test was 20% and assignments is 10% and examination is 70%. So, I have to get at least 50% in my examination.

I had to sit down and think about the whole thing. I deleted the information that I have been fed with from my brain. I was more dedicated to the course, I met with some of my colleagues to put me through and explain some concepts to me and I did researches on my own too. That was the beginning of turnaround for me in that course. At the end of the semester when results were out I passed with a B.

I was happy I made that first step to ignore what my senior colleagues told me about the course.

Final words

Try as much as possible not to use what you achieved as a yardstick for measuring your success but rather the steps you take to achieve them. Be proud of all the little steps you took because it will birth a bigger result.

Thank you for your time lovelies.
