Hello Splinterlands Addicts

Time for the SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge. This weeks topic is NO ATTACK.

Intro

There are several monsters in splinterlands that want peace to prevail. They try to calm things down among the rival factions and give negotiations a chance. But war is a necessary evil and they seldom prevent it.

Being inherently peaceful and nonviolent, they never attack any one. But their desire for peace and love is often mistaken for weakness by other monsters. Thrust me, they are not weak at all. Some have even developed defensive skills that no other monsters in splinterlands can comprehend.

Being with no attack, one can easily underestimate the NO ATTACK monsters and underrate their utility in battles. On the contrary, NO ATTACK monsters are frequently used in battles as they not only serve as meat shield but also give awesome perks to friendlies and negative buffs to the opposing side.

Only, Nine monsters in splinterlands have No Attack. They include LORD ARIANTHUS, ANGEL OF LIGHT, PEACEFUL GIANT, SHADOWY PRESENCE, TRUTHSPEAKER, FAILED SUMMONER, ALBATROSS, GELATINOUS CUBE and WARRIOR OF PEACE.

There are some monsters that have No Attack at low levels only. e.g. FURIOUS CHICKEN, SWAMP THING, MERMAID HEALER, CRUSTACEAN KING, UNDEAD PRIEST, DIVINE HEALER, GOBLIN SHAMAN, SILVERSHIELD BARD, ARMORSMITH and CREEPING OOZE.

Placement

The placement of NO ATTACK monsters depends upon the the purpose of their use and battle rules. Some NO ATTACK monsters can be used upfront and in the back to serve as meat shield for frontal and sneak attacks. Whereas some are suited forin the back ranks for the perks and negative buffs they grant.

The effect of BLAST gets amplified if used in Snipe attacks because monsters on both sides suffer the blast damage.

Defense

NO ATTACK monsters can often become difficult to handle. Despite having no attack they often have abilities than can be quite challenging.

There are a few strategies that can work better.

  • Total frontal assault is not a good strategy, as some NO ATTACK monsters being used as tank are high on health and have awesome abilities like Shield, Magic Reflect, Void, Healing and Scavenger. It is good to have some monsters with abilities to ignore the tank and attack the back rows.

  • Always include monsters with Sneak, Snipe, Blast and Opportunity abilities in your team, to take out low health NO ATTACK monsters hiding in back rows.

My Favorite NO ATTACK Monster

To be honest, I love all of the NO ATTACK monsters and use variety of them to my benefit as per battle rules and mana allowed. However, LORD ARIANTHUS and GELATINOUS CUBE are my favorites.

Battle Using BLAST Ability

This was a 36 mana battle with Melee Mayhem battle rule.

MY LINEUP

ZINTAR MORTALIS

I decided to use ```ZINTAR MORTALIS``` summoner. In Melee Mayhem battle rule, ```ZINTAR MORTALIS``` along with Demoralize ability can significantly reduce enemy melee attack.

GELATINOUS CUBE

Upfront came my NO ATTACK tank, ```GELATINOUS CUBE```. ```GELATINOUS CUBE``` can take up some strong beating indeed, thanks to Heal and Scavenger abilities.

PHANTOM SOLDIER

Next came my ```PHANTOM SOLDIER```. A perfect one down monster with strong magic attack and awesome abilities like Flying, Silence and Void.

UNDEAD ARCHER

Then, I placed the ```UNDEAD ARCHER```, for giving the enemy tank the Affliction buff. I love Affliction ability as it can greatly change the course of the proceedings. ---

HAUNTED SPIDER

On the next position, I placed ```HAUNTED SPIDER```. ####

The Poison of HAUNTED SPIDER can cripple the enemy.

HALFLING ALCHEMIST

On second last position, I placed the one and only, ```HALFLING ALCHEMIST```. The Halving ability once applied can provide serious relief to the tank. --- ### ```CURSED SLIMEBALL``` ####

And in the last, came the ```CURSED SLIMEBALL```. A nice low mana card serving as meat shield with Redemption ability.

BATTLE ANALYSIS

The battle went as planned. HALFLING ALCHEMIST and UNDEAD ARCHER did their job and crippled the enemy SEA MONSTER. The CUBE survived till last when everyone succumb.

The battle ended up with all monsters dying because of Fatigue. The last monster standing was my GELATINOUS CUBE.
