What is the purpose of Hive?

Hive basically have got a lot of purpose to it beyond being a social platform that rewards users.
Hive being a social blockchain platform has got a strong community base behind it, a community that strives for a common success of Hive. There are investment purposes to Hive as well in countless ways.
The purpose(S) of Hive I believe any one can identify them and even implement them if they are not existing on the blockchain yet.
