Having Lunch at Sahabat Baru Restaurant in Takengon, Gayo Highland

Few days ago, my family and I visit Takengon, the highest town in Aceh Province of Indonesia. Takengon is located at 1400 metres above sea level. It has cold weather, that may hit 16oC in the morning or in rainy season. And there is a lake here, named Lake Laut Tawar.
We visit the town to buy a bike at Bawi Bike Store. But, they do not sell the bike we wanted. We would like to buy a Dahoon bike. However, they do not have that item.
It was at noon, the we were heading to a restaurant. Sahabat Baru restaurant is so famous in the town. They provide local cuisines. All their menus are so delicious, a bit spicy, but a mouth-watering. Let’s see the dishes.
The restaurant is located at Jendral Gatot Subroto Street no. 412. The street is at the heart of the town.
Takengon is a small town, but it has beautiful views of highland. The town was not so crowded that afternoon.
We entered the restaurant. There were some guests already at the resto. The staffs of Sahabat Baru Restaurant looked quite busy to serve their guests.
They are friendly staffs and so helping. They are good waiters.
We took our seat. And started ordering our menus. Actually, here we do not need to order specific food, because they will serve everything on our table. Then, we will select which dishes we want to eat.
They are cooked fishes, cooked chickens, grilled fish, beef soup, and many more.
The restaurant also serves fried Depik Fish. Depik is the endemic fish of Lake Laut Tawar. The pictures below show fried Depik Fish.
They are so delicious and savory. You will never forget its taste once you try it.
One of special dish that I like is fried beef lung. I love this one. I’ve finished three pieces of fried beef lung.
We were really enjoying our lunch at Sahabat Baru Restaurant.
I may recommend this restaurant for having lunch or dinner when you visit Takengon. Their address is easily to find. You may use google map, or just walk or drive to Jendral Gatot Subroto street.
