'Earn Cryptocurrency' - Contest - My Update

As a new user to Hive, you may hear a lot of talk about the more Hive Power you have the more you can earn. When you look at the curation rewards of larger accounts and see that some earn hundreds of hive in a week, while you are earning less than 1 hive a week, it is hard to see and imagine.

So what are we looking at in this pie chart? On May 20th, I was gifted the first of three delegation two of which came in on May 22nd. A total of 4000 HP. On May 21st I had a total of 4140.140 of my own HP. So as you can see the delegation almost doubled my HP.

I used May 22nd as the start date for the comparrison, it is not included in either side of the pie chart.

  • Pre-Delegation days: May 8th through May 21st, inclusive = 12.718 HP
  • Post-Delegation days: May 23rd through June 5th, inclusive = 23.889 HP
  • During the first week of April 1-9 I earned 8.752 HP with only 3089.524 HP. (note that was 8 days)

My voting habits have not changed significantly, I still manually vote exclusively and the time the post was issued has no bearing on my voting, it could be a post from 2 minutes ago, to 7 days ago, if I see it, like it, read it, I usually will vote it. So I do not feel as if my vote habit have changed much.

I hope to remember and add another slice to the pie chart in about a month, to show the after effects of the delegation also. During that time my HP will be going up as it has been during the last two weeks and since making the full transfer to Hive.

The above was all made possible because of a challenge from @abh12345, (Asher). He ran a contest to see if we could get a google hit for 'Earn Cryptocurrency'. I am not really a blogger, and I know nothing of SEO, (Search Engine Optimization), procedures and tactics.

That did not prevent me from putting the best forward I could. I was not even really thinking about the possible delegation at the time, I just wanted to see if a layman at SEO and Blogging could get something on a google search. To the best of my knowledge nothing I have ever done has come up on a google search unless I type in my name and then it is well back in the corner gathering dust.

Several of the participants did get theirs on Google even if it was only for a fleeting time, one is still there when you search the terms Earn Cryptocurrency, that was @pitboy's, (page 10 when I looked), post. A very well done post.

When you see a contest, if it looks and sounds interesting to you, and is something you may be interested in learning, go for it, learn as you go. I have been using a very simple spreadsheet to keep track of a few things on Hive and steem before that, for almost two years, I finally had the drive to learn how to do pie charts in the program and learned how. If/when something piques your interest, just go for it, learn.

Conclusion:

Yes the more HP you have the more you can increase your earnings. Participation in contest/challenges can be rewarding. Learning new things does not have to be a chore, should not be a chore, and should be fun.

Thank you all that donated to the 'Earn cryptocurrency' Contest. It was fun, it was a learning experience, and it was very rewarding, thank you all.
