This week I was again surprised by a new challenge sponsored by @splinterlands and @carrieallen. I didn't expect to battle a "Neutral" type card like "Horny Toad", as it's not a card I possess at a good level to battle in the major leagues and being currently in "Champions III", it was a bit complicated to adjust it in some of my teams.

Although it was something complicated, I decided to wait for my daily mission, fortunately this was with the Splinter of "Dragon", one of my favorites, that I can combine it with my strongest team of Death, so in one of those battles I could fit perfectly to "Horny Toad" and fulfill my strategy.

This time I will talk a little more about the challenge letter, as well as its skills and usefulness in some strategies, so come with me...

"Horny Toad" is a "common" rarity card with a native ability called "Reach", which attacks the monster in the first position of the opponent, as long as it is placed in the second position of the formation. A very interesting card, although particularly this one must know how to use it carefully depending on the rules or mana that we can use in battle, this is because it does not have much life that can support it and turn it into a possible replacement tank, so in this sense you must know how to use it.

Another skill that you get in higher levels, specifically at level 6, is the so-called "Poison", this allows the monster that possesses it to poison the enemy once his attack reaches it, this will remove two points from his health in each round, so it is really useful and can help us in many ways to quickly weaken the opponent's team. In this sense, this is a card that can be used in battles of very low mana, can help us a lot in this type of rules, can also help us in battles where the rules are, for example, "Super Sneak or Melee Mayhem", being a card to use hand-to-hand.

I leave you the statistical table so you can check, skills and amount of cards to level up.

Now is the moment of truth, time to describe how my battle went and the strategy I used to be able to be victorious, as I said at the beginning, I waited for my daily mission to arrive so I could look for the right battle using "Horny Toad" and although I had to be patient waiting for the right rule to use it according to my opinion and analysis of it, in the end it worked. Here I leave you to enjoy it.

Link of the Battle

  • Mana 42

  • Super Sneak All Melee attack Monsters have the Sneak ability.

  • Broken Arrows Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles.

Delwyn Dragonscale

The Dragon-type summoner I chose for my battle and the strongest I possess from this Splinter. Although this one has an ability that doesn't agree with the battle rule at all, it was certainly very useful to use it, since it allowed me to use my strongest Death Splinter, win a battle to continue completing my mission and also use the challenge card "Horny Toad" properly.

Haunted Spirit

The tank I chose for this challenge, a battle more than any physical due to the rules of it, particularly I use in battles where the rules interfere "Super Sneak" very strong monsters that have certain skills that can resist attacks, as of course my Haunted with his ability to "Heal" which heals in each round and has a very good health plus a 4 point melee attack.

Undead Rexx

As my battle is high mana, I could choose a number of high mana monsters, one of them was undoubtedly my "Undead Rexx", with a great 5 point attack and a great health that would allow it to take the position of backup tank in case my Haunted Spirit fell in battle. Also, thanks to the battle rule, it would attack my opponent's last card so, from this monster, my strategy was clear to destroy my opponent's baseline.

Dark Enchantress

It is not a card with a melee attack, but it has a very useful skill that made me choose it to occupy the third position of my lineup; and that is that its skill called "Stun" at the time of reaching my opponent there is a high probability that he will be stunned and can not attack in the next round, this was going to allow me to have a little more time for my tank in the first position and thus let my "Rexx" continue doing considerable damage to the last card of my opponent's lineup.

Horny Toad

The challenge card and placed in this position strategically to protect it due to its low health, also came to fulfill the same as my other cards with melee attack, which is to weaken my opponent's baseline, this is where I see the usefulness of this card despite also being designed to be in the second position due to its native ability called "Reach".

Undead Minotaur

This card could not be missing from my line-up, it is a very strong card and extremely useful for this kind of rules due to its skills. First with his skill "Double Strike" allows him to attack twice in the same round, in addition to this if my opponent attacks him in some way also taking advantage of the battle rule, he has the skill called "Retaliate", which when the opponent hits the blow he can immediately return the attack, excellent skill for this type of battle.

Lord of Darkness

The last card of my strategy and one of the fundamental pieces of it. Its attacking power and abilities, gave me a lot of time to keep the rest of my cards attacking and also that this one attacked me because it has a great attacking power and a quite acceptable health for the contest. In that sense his "Shield, Enrage and Stun" skills allowed me to further damage his formation and stay in the game until victory.

My strategy if it worked perfectly, I had enough patience to wait for a battle with the right rules where I could fit my "HORNY TOAD". Besides, I thought about my alienation as it happened, fortunately everything allowed me to use the cards I wanted. Although my opponent also used a very good formation, where in spite of having lower level cards, he was able to defeat several of my cards. So it was an exciting and very good battle.

I don't really use it, that's why I was surprised to find this challenge complicated, because, according to my analysis of the card in question, the only way it could be useful to me at level 1, was in a high mana battle and where the rules involving more hand-to-hand attack were present, as it happened and as I expected it to happen in order to be victorious.

I invite everyone to join Splinterlands, the best game based on block chains, full of adventures, battles and strategies where you will have fun and get rewards according to your league!
