If you invest all your money in one asset or project and that project fails, you will lose your money. You can make a portfolio when you make any investment.

When you make a portfolio and diversify your investment, you minimize the risk. Even one project does not do well, that loss will be covered by other projects that are doing very well.

If you just invest more assets or projects, that's not well diversified. The relationship between the two projects is important. If the correlation between the two projects is positive, that's not good. You need to add a project or asset in your portfolio that is negatively correlated with other projects.
