A recent study that was published in the Journal of Regional Policy and Analysis, suggests that cannabis freedom has a significant impact on tourism, specifically hotel bookings.

Washington and Colorado were the first to allow recreational cannabis changes and the study compared hotel room rentals in those regions to rentals in other states that had not made such cannabis changes.

They examined hotel rentals across several years for those two states and researchers discovered that cannabis might play a big role in boosting tourism and helping to fill up hotels. There probably isn't much surprise there though.

They noticed an increase ranging from 2.5 to 4 percent, making its way up to roughly 7.2 percent after retail stores were finally opened in those jurisdictions.

Right now, there are a significant number of hotels that also do not offer cannabis-friendly accommodation. Considering the impact that cannabis freedom has on attracting tourists and boosting hotel occupancy and revenue, it's safe to assume that cannabis-friendly venues might be preferred by those who are coming to the region for that reason.

Cannabis tourism is big billion dollar business and there is clearly significant demand from the market around the world for this product.

Slowly, more cannabis-friendly accommodation is coming around to certain areas, with cannabis-specific hotels that are being introduced, but there is still a significant need for improvement on that front.
