Hey Jessportsfans

In this Ponzi scheme called life, there are so many situations where we conflate value with anything other than production. We've become a bunch of rent-seekers, everyone trying to pass the hot potato around and hope they don't stuck holding the bag once the music stops.

When we think of success, we think of money as a metric of measure for success even when it can be stolen in legal ways or printed out of thin air or received in unethical or illegal means. As with most of you, I often have to spend my day dealing with normies who can't imagine every day not being the same as the last.

No one things of economic recession, hyperinflation, no one thinks they can't trust the government, no one thinks that they should stop using Google or Facebook, no one thinks that they should stop supporting Amazon and seek out local vendors. Since none of these growing issues affects people directly, they don't believe it can happen to them.

I mean I've been okay for 20,30,40,50 years we have it all figured out this is a rock-solid way to live and why should they bother digging deeper. The proof is in the past that nothing has happened before it will remain the same way in the future, may the streak continue.

This is an ideal some people like to call the Hot Hand Fallacy.

The "hot hand" (also known as the "hot hand phenomenon" or "hot hand fallacy") is the purported phenomenon that a person who experiences a successful outcome has a greater chance of success in further attempts.

The blindside

This is why people often get caught off guard because they believe so much in what happens in the past will continue to happen that when the opposite does they are gobsmacked. This could be the fact that you walk into work one day and you're retrenched, your car gets stolen, your investment doesn't pan out, and a host of other things you thought were just written in stone, how could they change?

I'm the victim

Those same people I mentioned earlier will be the first to complain once things start to affect them directly. Oh I didn't know the over-leveraging debt is bad or having one income, or giving all my data to google was terrible, or Facebook. "No one told me" or do you rather mean no one you thoughts opinion mattered but your own and the status quo gassing you up told you.

They will be the same people to play the victim and speak of their suffering when they didn't actively seek the truth, to learn about new things, they enjoyed drinking the kool-aid but didn't want to deal with the after-effects of suckling at the power teet.

In this life you really cannot afford to be asleep at the wheel, you need to be agile and approach each day with fresh eyes, complacency is what's going to result in a lot of fingers getting burned from hot hands.
