Up until 3 months ago I didn't know that this existed. I've seen the under the sink models with the storage tanks, but living in an apartment and not wanting to cut into water lines, this is the next best thing.

After getting tired of lugging around 5 gallon containers of purified water at one dollar a gallon at our local health food store, I decided to find something cheaper and more efficient. Not being very good at plumbing I was excited to find a portable reverse osmosis unit that screws onto your existing kitchen faucet. All you have to do is unscrew the aerator on your faucet and screw the diverter adapter in its place and you are all set to go.

This is my setup with a 3 gallon collector bottle for the purified water....

I tested our tap water with a tds meter and it read at 136 ppm and the filtered water came out at around 5 ppm....

Because a reverse osmosis unit gets more efficient the more you use it, after a few days it went down to 1 ppm.....

The only negatives i could find with the unit are that it takes around 20 minutes to make a gallon of purified water depending on how much water pressure you have in your house, and it produces waste water at a ratio of around 1 pure to 3 waste water. But that is common for a reverse osmosis unit.

I bought mine on Amazon for around $120 plus tax and shipping and I thought it was well worth it. It's called "Countertop Portable Universal 5-stage Reverse Osmosis RO Purification Water System with DI Deionizing mixed bed (close to 0 ppm) postfilter, built in USA and made by Reverse Osmosis Revolution. It has 4 filters and one reverse osmosis membrane filter. The filters should last 8-12 months and the RO membrane 2.5-3 years.

I keep my unit permanently attached to my kitchen faucet and cover it with a toaster oven cover when not using it so you don't even notice it is there.....

It's a great investment in my health and the hundreds of dollars i'm saving in a year over buying the bottled water in the store can be put to buying more altcoins.
