Here is another excuse to use Python to check out some Steem related data.

The first battle season has started in the galaxies of Next Colony.

Stardust (SD), the in-game currency, is playing a vital role for upgrading the Yamamoto ships and rewards. There are 8 ways to get your hands on these tokens

I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the current distribution of SD among accounts at the start of the season and revisit how the distribution changes after the first season.

A measure of equality of distribution is the Gini coefficient. A value of 0 means a completely equal distribution and a value of 1 represents extreme inequality.

Let's see what's going on in the galaxies:

The current Gini Coefficient is at 0,69 or 69% that seems pretty unequal. The World Bank provides some real world context:

  • The most unequal country is South Africa with 63%

  • Mexico: 48%

  • USA: 41%

  • Russia: 38%

  • Thailand: 38%

  • Switzerland: 33%

  • France: 32%

  • Poland: 32%

  • Germany: 31%

  • Netherlands: 29%

  • Sweden: 27%

  • The most equal rated country on the list is the Ukraine with 26%

How does the distribution look from a wallet perspective:

Let's zoom in on the top 15 wallets:

Some stats:

Percentage of total SDAmount SD
Mean0,61227'526
Median0,1865'821
Maximum14,235'281'182

Total SD supply: 36961598

Total SD sent to null: 273976

Percentage SD burned: 0,74%
