In case you didn't know, Doomsday HF21 is coming. You probably already knew that though.

You may be used to getting a certain amount of rewards for authoring original content, but that's going to change soon. You'll be happy to know that your curation rewards will increase. They should approximately double! That's the good news.

You're also going to be getting a big cut in your author rewards. Part of the rewards will be going to fund projects. The determination of which projects get funded is based on SP, so if you're not one of the few whales, you likely won't have much of a voice.

You're also going to get a lower percentage of the rewards from the post. Curators will be getting a larger chunk of it. (That's how you get larger curation rewards) For those who do more curating than posting, you'll see an increase in rewards. For anyone who posts for a majority of their Steem income, you'll see a drop soon.

This new plan is supposed to bring more investment to Steem, but most of the value of Steem is from the eyeballs on screens as a result of the posts created. Without rewards to give incentive for posting, I imagine we'll see fewer posts. That means less content to view which will likely lead to fewer users. This will likely cause a further drop in Steem price.

I'm not as focused on the price of Steem as the amount of Steem given for rewards. The theory I've heard is that because accounts with large accounts will get more in terms of curation that they'll do more curating of more peoples' posts. I don't see this being plausible as I don't see behavior changing. Those who self-reward will still self-vote. Those who already have decided who they'll vote for will likely continue voting for those people. The reward is the same.

I should still be around. There are people here who I really enjoy talking with. We'll see how long it takes for the community to realize that HF21 is likely a huge mistake. It will likely take even longer for the powers that control Steem to change course. Once they realize that the pain most people are feeling from HF21 is hurting them too, then they might create a fix. Hopefully we're all still around at that time.

What are you most excited about from HF21?

What are you most concerned about from HF21?
