Lang Gom Thanh Ha - Pottery Village Vietnam

I thought about titling this blog post, "The Escape from quarantine to be a professional potter", however, the more, mundane side of me took over... hmm... ... no, hold on, I am going to go back and change the title. The title was first going to be titled "Lang Gom Thanh Ha - Pottery Village Vietnam" but that is as exciting as pottery... so enjoy the spice.

I did escape if only for an hour before the warden (*My internal guilt) kicked in and I returned home.. but for that hour I lived like a King, a poor king on a broken bike cruising around the backwater streets of central Vietnam... but a KING none the less.

I rode to the Lang Gom Potter Village just outside of Hoi An. I have never been here before. Being racked with internal guilt, I only stayed a short time on the streets here walking about, shaping a few photos.

What did I learn from this? Well, that after lockdown is over, I will come back here and take a proper tour de force of this village and, its hidden measure!

Here are some of the photos I took. Enjoy~

  • This was just to the side of that sign above.

  • Some of the pottery had EPIC texture on it like this. I was not sure if it was from a Raku pottery, or just mud.. but it looked cook.

  • Here we see classic small town Vietnmease home design. I love the way these places look.

  • A little slice of life (*Ahem, not engaging in social distancing...), kids playing next to the river as wild dogs roam about!

  • There was 12 of these statues looking out to the rive. Do you know why? The answer, the 12 signs of the zodiac.

  • for some reason, all the pigs here had on of their eyes removed... pirate pigs? perhaps.

  • I found the stacking of the clay here, mixed with plats, and the texture of life exciting.

  • I did end up walking back after this to my bike and headed home. DAM YOU COVID, DAM YOU.

Anywho, that was my adventure for today. I will post some more jailbreak adventure photos tomorrow.
