In the Armpit of His Own Torture Dungeon

Rough hands made their way down my back, rough than the wood of a redwood tree. Then it was the cold steel of arm armet that went down next, his hot breath leaving a small trail of sweat that traveled down my spine.

Klep, the Guardian, spoke to his armigeral. "Go and fetch the horse. I have something more for this fellow."

The armigeral bent low and walked backward out the door before turning and disappearing.

"You won't get what you seek from me." My voice was rough and scratchy from the lack of water and the heat of the room. "But you will be giving me what I came here for."

"We'll see," said the Guardian.

He proceeded to sharpen a sword, dull and torn up from its use, in front of me. I must admit, I shuttered a bit. The thought of being food for his beast was as unpleasant as receiving an armilla from the princess, a troll with warts and with long, long hair that came out of those warts. The armilla was a sign of who owned who.

"Where is the armillary sphere?" Klep's voice was jovial. He loved his work. No amount of torture could fill his lust for it. He wanted his victims to delay what he wanted to know.

Seeing that I wasn't talking, he put down his sword and picked up a hook and string. He began arming the hook. "I like to use this on the eyelids."

I imagined that would be as pleasant as having a giant smash me with a tree. I winced. How could I have been so stupid as to buy a rope from a guy on the outside of the castle walls and then use that rope to cross the moat after I saw that the rope was being held together by a couple of strands? And then, getting caught by the vines ... rookie mistakes.

"Warriors like you, dangerous yet armipotent," said the Guardian," are a dying breed." He set the hook down as the armigeral entered with the horse, a black steed that had the biggest hooves I'd ever seen. "I should know because I've bested the best of them. They all have cracked and told me what I wanted to know, as you will." He took the reigns from his armigeral and waved his hand for him to leave. The armigeral left the same way that he did the first time.

Then Klep made his second mistake, he opened the armoire's doors to wide. In it, I saw the gold piece that was missing from the armillary sphere, the piece that made the thing work and would take me far beyond the earthly realms. All that needed to happen then was for me to rid myself of the restraints that bound my hands together. The Guardian's first mistake was not checking me for sharp objects.

Closing the door of the armoire after gathering some large stick object, the Guardian made his way over to me with the horse following behind. "Would you like me to perform armomancy here? Sure you would." He stared at the horse's shoulders, watching them move up and down as the horse shifted its weight from side to side, letting the images run through his mind. "Oh, I like this. Doom for you, friend. First, we start with the stick, then the hook, then the sword, and then the horse pulling you apart." He was pleased with his reading.

It was a good thing that I'm an armor-plated warrior or else this Guardian would have me shaking in my boots and pissing all over myself.

A few seconds and I was free from bondage.

"Oh, mister Guardian," I said in a mischievous tone.

"Yesss."

"Would you mind hold these?" In an instant, I ripped my bindings apart and quickly tied him up with them the best that I could. It was easy because this man was as skinny as a rail and couldn't fight me toe-to-toe, much less stave of an attack against a man of my size. I then placed in him in the armpit of his own torture dungeon before I took the gold piece and the horse with the biggest hooves that I've ever seen.

What is the point of these dictionary stories and/or rants? My idea is to simply free write using new words and look at new things as I'm learning my way through the unabridged Oxford English dictionary (can be read in full for free if you have a library that has an account set up with them) from beginning to end. Yes, there will be big words no one in their right mind would use nowadays; that is why I’m using the left mind. 🤪 If I use words in the wrong way, do challenge me. This is a work in progress.

In addition, the was done also for this: Day 919: 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: rough hands
