A satoshi is the smallest unit of Bitcoin. It is often call "Sats" for short.
There are 100 million Satoshis in each Bitcoin. Thus, 1 Sat is worth 0.00000001 BTC.
Satoshi is often the unit of account used for micropayments on the Lightning Network.
This is named after the anonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto
