A threadcast is an engagement feature that is designed to be coupled with some type of broadcast. This is located on LeoThreads and adds to the interaction for these episodes.

The idea here is to have a place where individuals can engage around some type of broadcast. Basically, it is the listeners or viewers. Of course, those on air can engage with the audience members.

Threadcasts can be set up for:

  • Ask Me Anything (AMA)
  • podcasts
  • sporting events
  • award shows
  • television programs

The idea is to bring people together on LeoThreads and let people interact while watching or listening to the broadcast.

Another feature is it allows those on the episode to interact with their fans or followers. Members of the audience can ask questions which can be taken during the show.

How It Works

A threadcast is set up on LeoThreads by simply opening up a thread and using the #threacast tag. It is best to explain what it is including the time it starts.

For example, it might looks something like this:

Here is the #threadcast for today's match between Manchester United and Liverpool. Please post all your comments and thoughts relating to this game inside.

When the thread goes up, one only needs to open it up and can reply as a comment. When a number of people are doing this, conversations can occur. If a sporting event, obviously the athletes will not be in the threadcast. This could change with a weekly podcast.

On Hive there are already a number of shows that utilize this:

  • Cryptomaniacs
  • Cryptoholics
  • Community Token Talk (CTT)
  • Leofinance AMA

During these broadcasts, a member of the show is usually interacting with the audience and taking questions.

Web 3.0

The idea of broadcasters engaging with the audience while on air is not new. We see this ability with YouTube in its chat. There is also a reward mechanism whereby the audience can support the show.

What makes Threadcasts different is that it incorporates the Web 3.0 model into it. Unlike Google, which does not have a way for audience members to be rewarded, LeoThreads utilizes the Proof-of-Brain (PoB) mechanism. This means that comments posted in threadcasts are eligible for votes.

Here we see audience members rewarded for their support. This is a reversal form Web 2.0 where the broadcast members are the one receiving money.

Another feature of the rewards is the votes can come from anyone. It does not have to be the broadcaster doing the voting. The audience can support each other.
