Shauner's 34th Splinterlands Brawl Report - PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish Guild
Welcome to my 34th #brawlreport as part of the @hive.pizza PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish guild! This is the brawl that ended around August 29, 2022.
I am battling in Fray #2 for this brawl, which has the lowest card limits, but has become more and more competitive lately.
PIZZA 2 Guild Member Performance
Congrats to @amaillo-m for going undefeated in this brawl with a record of 8-0! That's an impressive accomplishment to have 8 battles in a brawl and then win them all. Way to go!
We earned 17 crowns and 915 merits for finishing in 2nd place in this brawl. This is a repeat of our performance from the last brawl too. I think this is the first time we've received the exact same number of crowns and merits two brawls in a row.
This is one of my poorer performances in the first two frays, going 4-4. This was a little shocking when the final battles came through, but as I've said again and again these competitors in frays 1 and 2 are getting tougher each week.
I don't know why it says I received 0 merit rewards since I participated in every battle. Perhaps it was a glitch of some kind.
Battle #1 - Loss
This battle is against a YGG opponent. These are competitive guilds and I knew going into this one that it was going to be a major challenge. The ruleset eliminated all summoner abilities so my rented summoners were useless.
My strategy was to rely on two Bloodlust monsters to hopefully make up for not having any summoner abilities. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to overcome their attacks since neither of my Bloodlust monsters were able to deal the killshot to gain extra power. That's the biggest downside with the Bloodlust cards.
Battle #3 - Loss
In this battle, I used my Yodin summoner and went up against a Llama summoner. I also used a gladiator card that I don't usually use, Orella Abedon. My opponent used one of my favorite gladiators, Quora Towershead.
I'm kicking myself for this brawl loss because I had the same cards as they did and should have known Quora was a much better use for this ruleset.
Battle #4 - Loss
After coming out of the last battle not using Quora, I decided to put up both Quora and Kron and go for a powerful final two cards to destroy my opponent.
The problem I ran into here is that they used the two Bloodlust strategy and managed to succeed in getting those cards to make killshots against me so they increased their stats. Perhaps if I didn't have a Chicken and Ooze in play for them to make easy kills, I could have pulled out a win here... oh well.
I only posted summaries of losses this time because I really felt like I got my ass kicked for my own stupid strategy decisions. While I used to rarely see my opponents deploying Bloodlust cards, they are now showing up nearly every battle. Additionally, nearly every opponent of mine was also renting very powerful summoners.
I will need to take some time to re-think strategy in these lower level frays now that they've become so competitive. For the next brawl, I am shifting to a sacrificial GF-only fray to take a bit of a break from #1 or #2.
*Starting with the brawl that just ended, I've invited/asked members of the #hivepizza guild to publish a #brawlreport, breaking down their highs & lows, where they need help, questions they have, strategies they love, and so on. The idea is to help us all reflect a bit, learn a bit, share a bit, earn a bit, and connect a bit :-)
Check out the latest update on the Hive Pizza token project. We also have an announcement in there about the newest PIZZA guild! We are up to four Splinterlands guilds now and are consistently well-ranking.
