The Hive blockchain is a true decentralized social media platform where users can share the content in multiple forms: blogs, posts and comments or threads. While some are more specific to long form content and other to the short form microblogging, I will focus in this post on the long form publishing on the Leo Finance app and community. While the new UI kicked on the market for quite some time, things are continuously being built up through iterative cycles. But as we got used to the old interface or other interfaces exposing content from the Hive blockchain, it is easy to compare and find out the features that are yet to be release and that we miss the most. And in my case that's the "Reblog" functionality.

In order to understand why I consider the "Reblog" functionality as a must and that it should be prioritized to be added on the Leo Finance, let's see first the differences between Blog and Posts on the Hive blockchain.

Blog

A blog on the Hive blockchain represents an individual's personal space, which can be envisioned as a digital diary or journal. It is a collection of a user's posts, usually presented in chronological order with the newest at the top, but in the same time it includes posts from other users. How? Well simply by Reblogging others content in your personal space which can be later on accessed by others following your feed. This will create more exposure not only for your posts, but also for the posts of others which are shared and can be seen by a bigger audience. Usually Blog content can be found at: http//HiveUIInterface/@youruser. For example: https://peakd.com/@behiver

Posts

The posts on the Hive blockchain on the other side present only the long form content created by you. Any new such content will be primary published as a post and in order to be seen in the others feed you need to reblog it as to be available in your space. We can see from here that posts do not have wide audience and visibility and one could require a little bit of work to discover such limited content. Usually Posts content can be found at: http//HiveUIInterface/posts/@youruser. For example: https://peakd.com/posts/@behiver

Communities

Usually when we create content on the Hive blockchain, while we might be posting on specific community and UI, we use multiple tags in order to reach a bigger audience with additional communities that might have overlapping domains. As some communities are pulling data from the Blog feed, it is important that when we are publishing content to use the "Reblog" feature in order to make sure our articles reach more communities.

Taking an example from the PeakD interface on the Hive blockchain, we can see the Reblog button and if we press it we get the following question: Show in your blog? This post will appear on your blog and personal feed. Pressing Yes, will make the article be displayed also in the Blog space as described above and be part of your followers feeds and tagged communities. I hope I got this right and provided arguments for why I am missing the Reblog feature.
