What do you think of an "Adopt a new Steemian" campaign?

I was thinking on ways that we could make the platform thrive as well as what new users go through when just arriving. It came to my mind that we could have a "new Steemian adoption" system which would not only encourage them to stay, but also to make progress quicker so that they became good additions to Steemit.

When I arrived I was blessed to have @slobberchops guide me through my first steps and provided great advice on different things I could do. He also pointed out the things he considered I was doing right and those I should be wary of. I think this helped a lot in me integrating to Steemit and not getting frustrated before I could start to see all of its potential.

What I have in mind goes a little beyond some guidance though. I can picture a campaign where both the adopted and the adopter have something to gain.

The adopter would have the following responsibilities:

  • Pick a new Steemian with less than 3 months of age.

  • Introduces him/herself to the newcomer and offer adoption (some could refuse but it's ok, there will be many happy to receive this help)

  • Delegate at least 10% of their SP to the adopted Steemian.

  • Comment and upvote all the adopteds posts.

  • Show them around the different tribes and useful Discord channels, as well as the blockchain Dapps that interact with Steemit.

  • Write a weekly report of how the adoption has worked out, the goodies and the badies, as well as some ideas or insights that might come from the experience.

  • I think the adoption should be for three months to help set a solid base for new users.

The benefits for the adopters would be:

  • All members of the adoption campaign would have to upvote the reports, including the adopted.

  • The existence of an account for the campaign that could receive delegations and have auto-upvote for all those partaking in it.

  • A more solid growth of the Steem blockchain which benefits us all. Happy new users would start to attract more new users.

  • Being part of a more supportive community that eventually will collaborate back with them.

The adopted would have the possibility to call out those who are not fulfilling their adopter duties to avoid having people only taking advantage and not providing any help. They would also have the responsibility to be respectful, precise and objective while doing so.

Those are some ideas, I'd like to know what you think. Do you see this happening? I would start the project myself but I'm not very constant at coordinating such big operations. Maybe someone out there finds this to be a good idea and can pull it off. If you would like to try this, I'd be more than happy to be a sidekick on the journey helping in whatever I can.
