Nicole Jordan is one of the writers I discovered early then abandoned for reasons I don’t exactly remember. Then sometime last year, I was going through a journal where I used to write down the names and authors of books I’ve read in high school when her name jumped out. I vaguely remembered the book. I was around fifteen at the time. I went looking for it and discovered several of her books and interestingly, they’re erotica.

Today, I have Master of Temptation. It’s number two in The Guardian Series. I suppose the name should give you a faint idea of what’s it’s about.

Caro Evers is a twenty-five year old lady who defiles society’s appropriateness by choosing a profession common to men. She’s a healer and one of the guardians sworn to protect the oppressed. She possess skills superior to men and doesn’t care what society thinks. She meets Max Leighton and saves his friend wounded in battle. Max spends a little time in Cyrene, Caro’s home and the night before he leaves, they share a night together which costs Caro her innocence.

A year later, Max returns from battle, a wounded soul. His friend died protecting him and he just can’t forgive himself for it. He has decided to become a civilian, detesting war and the horror it brings. However, thoughts of Caro and their wonderful night keeps him going. He never expects to see her again but they meet again at a party. Caro vows to keep her distance. She has spent a lot of time missing and thinking about Max the previous year and doesn’t want to repeat her mistake again. But will she be able to resist him? Max’s protective sense and the terror of losing someone else he cares about keeps tormenting him especially when it comes to Caro. I’ll leave you to find out what happens in the end when you read the book.

Nicole Jordan is my go to author when it comes to erotica. I must warn you, her books and descriptions are quite raw. If you’re easily offended, they’re not for you. Her books are usually set in the seventies and eighties with the lady and gentlemen way of life at the time. When you look beyond the erotica though, you’ll find a decent plot with real life situations.

Go grab a copy and enjoy. Don’t forget to tell me what you think of it.
