Society of today is impatient. People simply do not want to wait for anything. We rapidly evolved into a species of instant gratification. As our technology grew,the speed which we could access things also expanded.

Now, we live in a world of the 24 hour news cycle, round the clock trading, and always online attitude. In fact, people have to consciously make a choice to disconnect by shutting off their electronic devices.

Nowhere is this attitude more evident than in the world of investing. While this was always filled with the quick hit strategies, one constant over time about investing is long term growth.

Investing uses the power of compounding for maximum gains. While it is possible to have a stellar year, pulling in astronomical returns, enormous wealth is built over long periods of time. This is evidenced by the career of Warren Buffett. He parlayed an annual 20% return into tens of billions for himself. This shows the power of consistently over a period of time like half a century.

SPInvest is an investment club that was started with the same ideal. Instead of looking at the get rich quick strategies, the focus was upon long term returns that are achieved consistently. The target was, not surprisingly, 20% a year.

Of course, being involved in cryptocurrency means there is the potential for outsized returns. The first year, the club achieved a growth rate of over 80% in the value of its holdings. While this might be considered an exception, it does provide a basis from which to grow.

At the same time, we are able to use the power of the Hive ecosystem to help further the returns. Individual activity by club members generates HIVE through posting, upvoting, and commenting. At the same time, many members are interacting with other projects, always looking for something that could provide a nice return through SPInvest's participation.

It is one of the first communities on Hive (Steem) that took the idea of collective growth as a basis for its existence. Anything that is done to benefit the club benefits all individuals, no matter how much SPI they are holding.

Recently, the last of the 100,000 tokens that SPI offered were sold. This means that all tokens, from this point forward, acquired will be from the open market. With a weekly distribution payout from the club's earnings, people are paying a premium for the income stream along with potential growth.

The success of SPInvest serves as a model for others to follow. It takes a lot of work and efforts of many people to get to this point. The benefits, however, are worth it. One of the biggest keys is to keep focus upon the long term perspective.

Overnight success can be fleeting. Long term success requires a solid foundation. It took more than a year to distribute 100,000 SPI tokens and get them all out. Now that it is complete, the market is in place. From here, we will see where it heads.
