Suddenly it is 2020. How did that happen? It seems only yesterday we were worried about the Y2K computer issues. Steem will be four years old soon. It is still under the public radar, but I have a good feeling about what the year could bring. Communities and SMTs should come out of beta and I hope to see many more exciting DAP projects.

#spud (Steem Power Up Day) is an initiative from @streetstyle where people are encouraged to buy some Steem and power up at the start of a month. There are prizes to be won, but my reputation and SP mean I am not eligible to win. I will power up anyway.

2019 was a pretty good year for me. I have about 8000 more SP than a year ago. I bought about 2800 last year and just bought over 500 more for £50. I consider that a bargain. The same amount would have cost about £1000 when I started out here. If you believe in the potential of Steem then I think you ought to buy whatever you can afford (and can afford to lose, I am not a financial adviser). This latest power up takes me close to half way to being an orca. I would hope I can earn another few thousand Steem this year and I will keep buying some when I can.

As usual I obtained Steem by first buying Litecoin using my Wirex debit card and then converting that using @blocktrades. I would hope Wirex will support Steem directly some day. They are on here as @communitymanager, but I see there is a @wirexapp account too. I just checked with their support and the latter does not appear to be official. They need to be more active really.

In the coming year I aim to keep on doing the same things. I will be posting most days about my running, music, the environment, Steem and anything else that interests me. I do not have anything to sell. I may use dedicated accounts for specific music projects that I want to promote.

I hope to make use of Steem communities. I have joined a few on the beta site, but have not been posting much to them yet.

I also control the @tenkminnows account that supports small accounts to try to help them grow. I have delegated to it and it has support from other people. Keeping new users engaged is still an issue. We need to encourage them to stick with it even though they are not likely to make much with the current low Steem price. It is all about playing the long game by building the community.

I will also continue to support the @steemflagrewards project that does so much to deal with those who just take by gaming the rewards. I try to persuade people to change their ways rather than just driving them away. That does often work. Some people just do not realise how Steem is intended to work.

I wish everyone great year and hope we will be celebrating successes for Steem in twelve months.

Steem on!
