The Newest Non-Fungable Token Game is Here

Word is spreading quickly about NFT's (non-fungable tokens) which allows unique tokens to be bought, sold, earned and transferred. These are most useful for unique cards which have variable values depending on how they're used in a game.

My City Doesn't Look Like Much... yet.

There is no graphical interface for Steem City Sim, but the discord channel allows for all sorts up updates and managing tools.

Here's what my city looks like so far.

Each one of these city elements is an individual NFT that I own. There's a market where I can buy or sell elements from my city. Here are all the city elements in the game so far:

Rules of the Game:

The goal is to build up both your population and income by purchasing or earning additional cards.

A random card is given to you when you transfer STEEM (currently 4 steem) to @steemcitysim You are most likely going to win a Basic Home since it's a 30% chance, but you can also win all sorts of other interesting features for your city.

What's the Point?

It's essentially a mining token, the goal being to both rank well with a high population in your city, plus mining daily SIM tokens based on your "income". My city produces 139 SIM per day, which can be used to purchase more city features (currently 800 sim) or can be sold on the Steem-Engine Marketplace.

Managing My City

It's tricky to manage the city, since every card that gives income and popularity also requires workers for them to become active. So balancing the number of houses, luxury houses and apartments (rare) is important. Also popularity gives a population bonus, as does homeless and immigrants although they lower your popularity.

Enter Excel

To manage these, I use excel. Yes, I'm like that.

Not An Inexpensive Game

With each card being 4 steem each, it takes a lot of cards to make an efficient city. But the proceeds from these sales all go towards the reward pool, so if a player is willing to invest, they will be happy with the outcome. I've spent almost 150 steem (ouch) on my city so far, but hopefully it will pay back enough dividends to be worth while in the end.

Calculating population bonus and how many extra workers I have:

Popularity divided by 1000, times population will give you your bonus.

Total population minus workers gives you the number of extra workers:

This is very useful to know whether you can afford purchasing an income generating card. I have 8 extra right now, so I need more housing before I can add a gym or steem sign. No way I can afford a factory right now.

Free Cards Show Up!

There is a chance for free Immigrant or Homeless cards to be added to my deck. These are good for extra population and can be put to work by adding new features to my city. However they lower the city popularity, which can be a problem.

I get a little thrill knowing a new card is added to my deck, even these cards can be sold on the market if you could find a buyer!

It May Look A Little Complicated

It's not as complicated as I probably made it look, but it's fun optimizing your city and adding cool features like a cinema or gym. I even have TWO garbage dumps!
