Gamification of curation on Steem

I think most of us agree that encouraging more manual curation of posts on Steem is a good thing for the health of the network and good for improving the quality of content around here. But thus far, there haven't been a lot of innovations to encourage manual curation. #newsteem has been a catalyst for putting more emphasis on curation and building a platform more friendly towards investors. The use of bidbots have reduced significantly and the content on Trending is improving. However, to spread out the votes further and to encourage more manual curation, there needs to be more gamification of curation.

As most Steemians are probably aware, @tipu recently introduced a gamified curation system where top curators can earn a share of a daily reward pool. Top curators are also given more benefits such as increased voting power and ability to nominate other Steemians to join. In my opinion, this is what we need more of around here. @cardboard has made the curation process fun and rewarding, and at the same time benefiting the community. I really hope more curation projects around here would follow suit and gamify the curation process.
