Splinterlands and Investment
The continued drama of the ecosystems has finally extended into the Splinterlands side as it has now been confirmed that the game will be moving blockchains in the coming weeks. This has surely had plenty of impacts around the community as not everyone has been aligned since the beginning of the battles between communities. However, I personally was not surprised by the announcement although it came sooner than I would have expected.
As in the past, these times of divide also present opportunities for others and it has been exactly what I have been looking for. I have been holding resources for good opportunities to add to what I continue to enjoy within the ecosystems which is to build my Collection and continue competing with the rest of the community. I have even started to look at opportunities to make investments in the future of the game as I think it continues to be attractive given how far they have come despite the challenging times lived along side it for the past year or two.
In addition to continuing to add to my Collection, I decided to go into the Steem Engine market and purchase some Alpha Booster packs. While priced much higher than their original face value, I wanted to have some in my Collection to ensure I have a bit of all of them as a memory of the days I would buy and open packs individually. Unfortunately, I made a mistake when transferring the first one and sent it to the wrong wallet! However, I know have a complete Collection of packs I could also speculate on in the future!
Since I got confident on the use of Steem Engine suddenly with the experience, I started to also purchase some Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) to accumulate the in-game currency given the discount they currently have relative to what can be purchased. I have seen how the amount of DEC earned continues to decrease given the player growth (although mostly bots) and think that the currency will be good to have over time. I am trying to think about the future development and being ready for when that time comes as I believe that investors can find ways to create streams of income from the ecosystem.
While this has made me a DEC millionaire, I continue to look for ways to become more involved given the opportunity. I am hearing of many early investors and participants now leaving and while it saddens me to see the community subtract instead of multiply, I think the opportunities remain positive. Given the sales, there may be some interesting assets available to purchase soon. I am actively looking at DEC, cards, and even the SMTT token itself to find my way into being a Stakeholder as well. It may be the opportunity I have been waiting for!
