Always mine
Life was going on as usual. They both met in the office during work. The disagreement between them did not come in the way of work. The co-workers could feel the tension though because of the absence of the fun and laughter.
Monday passed and so did Tuesday. The next day, he cornered her and asked her to come to dine with him during the break. She looked nervously at her friend who signaled her to go with him. She put her hands into her pockets and walked beside him. He knew that he was not able to get through the ice. Nevertheless, he did not want to give up on her. She was just perfect for him. Why would he be a fool to let silly issues like family matters get in the way between them, he wondered as he walked towards the restaurant.
They went inside the private booth. It helped that he was the partner of the place and he had his own space. They were served their usual and left alone to talk. She smiled at him and he knew he was getting somewhere. He took out his phone and showed her the pictures from the friends and family union. He did not say a word as she went through the pictures. The lady that she suspected was his close friend was seen embracing her fiancee after being proposed to by him. The fiancee was another partner and had been invited to the family and friend party. She looked sheepishly at the man sitting next to her and could not find words to speak. She had made quite a scene in his apartment and walked off without waiting for an explanation. She had seen the lady hugging him and misunderstood both of them.
He took her hands into his and told her that he wanted to truly win her back and that was why he gave her the time and that was why he had waited for so long until she cooled down. He explained that he was a business person and had lots of contacts who were dear to him but it did not mean that he did not care for the one person he truly loved and that was her. She was moved by this and she apologized to him. He smiled warmly and they both enjoyed their lunch, took the day off and went for a long drive and a walk in the woods to enjoy some time together.
