Come try the new leo promise you would not be disappointed Feedback post & Bug report

Disclaimer : I know this is not the best way to write a bug report. We are supposed to get to the point. However I have been using the new UI from the early stages and have been witnessing first hand how the interactions and engagements explode as compare to the earlier Hive posting experience so I do not want anyone reading the post to get discouraged and think of the new UI as bug laden. Instead in plain text terms it is a great idea taking shape which is evolving fast and this being in alpha thee are going to be bugs and we are going to do some bug squashing on the way to make the new UI features and interface from good to great. Enough for a disclaimer kets get started,

Leofinance.io the layer 2 front end built over the hive blockchain focuses crypto, finance and financial content.

however leofinance.io opens its doors to everyone as if to welcome its new baby or new feature called leo threads

What is Leo Threads

Leo Threads = Twitter on the blockchain

On twitter one can go and post about anything and everything so can you do on leo threads

There is no restriction of being limited to a particular niche you are free to post anything and there are no penalties to do it.

How to access Leo threads

The best way is to check out the new alpha version which can be accesses by visiting https://alpha.leofinance.io/

Login to https://alpha.leofinance.io/

If not already logged in you may be prompted to login with hive keychain which went through smoothly for me.

Since the leofinance team is showering all its love and attention on its new baby leo threads so the default interface that opens is that of Leo threads This is the url and interface that loads at the time of writing this post https://alpha.leofinance.io/threads
From here I get to create a thread by typing my content in the text field

This part is super easy as the character count is a cool reminder that one is in the thread mode and about to create a short 240 character twitter like content.

What if I want to write the long form content

If long format blog is your thing then you can click on the post button and it would take you to the post creator whee you can write your long format post.

You can come back to the thread mode by clicking the home button

BEFORE YOU SWITCH BETWEEN HOME & POST

Sorry for the all caps title but I have to share some news with you before you lose the content you have already typed. The news is that since we are in the alpha version so there is NO auto save draft feature enabled as of now. So one is better off saving the thread or long format post content on a notepad on your computer before you hit

  • The back button
  • Try to switch modes This is the first learning that I received. However this part of the alpha version so some bugs are expected However if a user feels trying the alpha version is for the brave hearts then feel free to go to the old version of leofinance.io The old threads version would be accessible from
    https://leofinance.io/threads

Even the threads that you create under the alpha version get synced and show up under the old interface as well after the delay of a few seconds.

Maximizing the reach of messages via threads

Just as in twitter we use tags similarly we can use tags here as well by prefixing a "#" before a word like if we want to use the hive tag then we would use it as #hive

trending tags appear on the right

Including these tags as part of the content increased the chances of your thread being discovered if I user searches for a particular tag from the right menu called trending tags

however it needs to be remembered that a thread is a short tweet style content where the content with the tags included has to be withing a limit of 240 characters

I have seen the threads getting synchronized with the old interface however there is something that seemed amiss That is being illustrated in the image below

Since the content from the alpha version is getting synchronized and showing up under old interface as well so not sure why the trending tags and their numbers displayed on the two interfaces should be so different.

Save before you post

Another way to lose content that you have typed and not saved on a separate notepad or some word processor on your computer is at the type of posting or publishing.

Suppose I make this thread

So when I click the thread button to create a thread it pops up the key chain for me to confirm
So far so good

However if I click away the pop up simply dis appeared and was nowhere to be found this happened for the first time and intermittently but I could not recreate it every time.

However something which happens every time is in case of keychain usage is when you hit cancel instead of confirm
In such a case not only is the publish process aborted but the written content is getting erased too.

The rest of the process seems to work fine for me. I used Windows version 7 Chrome browser to test this interface.

Double checking with Windows 10 Chrome

Yes even with this setup the written text on a thread text field disappeared when you click cancel instead of Confirm. This does not happen on the old platform and cancelling a publish confirmation does not mean a user wants to delete the entire text so this should not happen.
