Read "Travelfeed On Speed" on TravelFeed.io for the best experience

Before we roll out TravelFeed 3.0 we're pushing out this huge update (we're talking about 15k lines of code changed) to make sure everything runs smoothly. A huge portion of today's update is all about improving page loading times, which improves the overall user experience and will help with our search engine rankings. Google loves fast loading websites. Talking of SEO, don't forget to pay attention to write search engine friendly articles with keywords in mind to win our monthly SEO contest with a juicy 100 Steem in the prize pool, split between three winners. We will announce the February winners on the 1st week of March.

Updates

Speeding Up TravelFeed.io

Without getting too much on the tech side of it, we wanted to share with you how we improved our page loading time. We're now delivering Server Side Rendered Pages through cloudflare edge, turned some pages in static pages and we're caching now APIs. Head over to TraveldFeed.io and see if you notice a difference

Post to Steem Communities

Communities are an amazing upcoming feature on Steem and many users enjoy using the Beta. We have been asked repeatedly why we haven't started a community for TravelFeed yet: Rather than having one community for TravelFeed, we have plans to support many sub-communities on TravelFeed.io.

While we are waiting with implementing this feature until communities are out of Beta, we are now supporting posting to communities: Since #travelfeed is set as the first tag, posting to Steem communities was not possible from TravelFeed.io prior to this update. Now, if you set a community tag (for example hive-174578 for the ocd community) as your first topic, your post will be automatically posted to this community! Adding the community tag works like any other custom topic, simply press space or comma after the tag to add it.

How to Get Involved?

Are you not on TravelFeed yet? We invite you to check out TravelFeed.io and to join over 1000 travelers on our Discord community. We’re also looking for one more curator to join our team.

We’re in Beta and continuously improve TravelFeed, meaning that there are still some bugs. If you notice anything or have feedback for us, please don’t hesitate to contact us on Discord, leave a comment or open a bug report on Github!

Consider Delegating To Us

Your delegation not only supports the growth of this incredible project, but also helps the entire travel community on the Steem blockchain. Once we launch our token, the airdrop to delegators will be based on the amount of SteemPower delegated and your share of the total delegations for each day delegated. This means an advantage for early investors delegating now. Our Steem Power is fully used for curation of the best TravelFeed posts and we provide temporary delegations to accounts created through us, to help with resource credits. Feel free to use the following links according to the amount you would like to delegate to @travelfeed:

100 SP | 250 SP | 500 SP | 1000 SP
2500 SP | 5000 SP | 10000 SP
15000 SP | 25000 SP
50000 SP

And again, we'd like to thank every single delegator who believes and trusts in us. If TravelFeed becomes as successful as we are confident it will be, delegating to us is probably the investment with the highest ROI on Steem right now.

Place 1

One Month In Bali written by @carolynstahl

We were much too reluctant to ride a scooter in that traffic. That was not an option. The traffic in Ubud is the craziest thing I've ever seen. We walked to town on small roads with vehicles wizzing by like a storm of missiles. We didn't bother taking taxis except in the dark on our way back from the supermarket. They charged more than they would have if we were at home. We couldn't call a Grab taxi or a bluebird because the airport sim card didn't work so we just didn't bother getting another.

Place 2

The Ngorongoro Crater Aka The Garden of Eden written by @vcclothing

Let me share some pictures with you from our day at the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. Now I had always heard of this magical place where an old volcanic crater is now home to an abundance of African wildlife including the BIG 5! This volcano was supposedly larger than Mt kilimanjaro. When it exploded and imploded in on it self around 3.5 million years ago. And that's when all the animals moved in.

Place 3

5 Hungarian dishes you need to try in Budapest and where to find them written by @haydae

Hungarian cuisine isn't quite so popular as of yet. It is somehow rare to find a Hungarian restaurant abroad and even rarer to be able to name more than a single Hungarian dish. The local cuisine of Hungary is often boiled down to its most iconic ingredient, the paprika spice, a ground spice made from dried red fruits or sweet peppers.
