Я сьогодні сиділа, переглядала фотографії на своєму телефоні та думала про яку ж скульптуру написати? Вирішила, що сьогодні виберу найулюбленішу! Знайомтесь – Джон Лорд власною персоною. У самісінькому центрі міста Ужгород. Це моя постійна рубрика "Маленькі, але вагомі причини відвідати Ужгород" під хештегом #uzhhorodsculptures і за традицією напишу я досить багато тексту, тому діставайте свої смаколики та насолоджуйтесь!
Today I was sitting, looking at photos on my phone and thinking about what kind of sculpture to write about? I decided that today I will choose my favourite! Meet - John Lord in person. In the very centre of Uzhgorod. This is my regular column "Small but Weighty Reasons to Visit Uzhhorod" under the hashtag #uzhhorodsculptures and traditionally I will write a lot of text, so get your goodies and enjoy!

Не побоюсь сказати, що він один із найвеличніших та культових музикантів нашої грішної планети. Джон Дуглас Лорд - англійский композитор та клавішник, котрий встиг побути учасником таких гуртів, як Artwoods, Flower Pot Men, Deep Purple, Paice, Ashton & Lord, Whitesnake.
Don't be afraid to say that he is one of the greatest and most cult musicians of our sinful planet. John Douglas Lord is an English composer and keyboardist who has been a member of such bands as Artwoods, Flower Pot Men, Deep Purple, Paice, Ashton & Lord, Whitesnake.
З 2002 року він зосередився виключно на сольній кар'єрі, але перш за все Лорд асоціюється у кожного із нас, як засновник легендарних Deep Purple музика, яких вплинула на кожного.
Since 2002, he has focused exclusively on his solo career, but above all, Lord associates each of us as the founder of the legendary Deep Purple music that has influenced everyone.
Його біографія цікава, абсолютно кожна деталь має значення:
- любов до Баха та музики Відродження з самого дитинства, які завжди вгадувались в його імпровізаціях
- мрія стати актором народившись в сімї' музикантів
- відмова в свій час від синтезаторів, але згодом надання неповторного звучання електрооргану Hammond, котрий сьогодні асоціюється виключно з Лордом
- робота над десятками альбомів і звісно над культовою та найвідомішою піснею "Smoke On The Water"
His biography is interesting, absolutely every detail matters:
- love for Bach and Renaissance music from childhood, which has always been guessed in his improvisations
- dream of becoming an actor born into a family of musicians
- the rejection of synthesizers at one time, but later the unique sound of the Hammond electric organ, which today is associated exclusively with the Lord
- work on dozens of albums and of course on the cult and the most famous song "Smoke On The Water"
Якщо бути чесними, то розповідати про його здобутки та згадувати драйвові пісні можна до безкінечності. Народився Джон Лорд 9 червня 1941 року, а 16 липня 2012 року музиканта не стало.
To be honest, you can talk about his achievements and remember the drive songs indefinitely. John Lord was born on June 9, 1941, and on July 16, 2012, the musician passed away.
Яка історія в скульптури? / What is the history of sculpture?
Перш за все потрібно зазначити, що це єдиний пам'ятник Джону Лорду в Україні і про нього дійсно знають практично всі віддані прихильники, як композитора, так і гурту Deep Purple.
First of all, keep in mind that this is the only monument to John Lord in Ukraine and the latter is known to be performed by all fans, both composers and the band Deep Purple.
Ідея встановити цю скульптуру виникла ще у 2012 році після смерті рок-легенди. Для її втілення у багатьох барах міста стояли спеціальні банки з пива куди кожен бажаючий міг закинути монетки для того, щоб вони згодом стали матеріалом для зменшеної копії Лорда.
The idea to install this sculpture arose in 2012 after the death of a rock legend. To implement it, many bars in the city had special beer cans where anyone could throw coins so that they could later become material for a reduced copy of the Lord.
Кажуть, що крім звичайних українських монет в банках можна було знайти єгипетскі фунти, угорські форінти, чешську національну валюту і старі радянскі копійки. Загалом було зібрано близько 16 кілограм монет! Щоправда, згодом від цієї ідеї відмовились використавши стандартну бронзу.
It is said that in addition to ordinary Ukrainian coins, Egyptian pounds, Hungarian forints, the Czech national currency and old Soviet kopecks could be found in banks. In total, about 16 kilograms of coins were collected! However, this idea was later abandoned using standard bronze.
27 листопада 2014 року Джона Лорда урочисто презентували жителям міста під акомпанемент місцевог о оркестру, котрий грав "Smoke On The Water" і дуже символічно, що того дня над річкою Уж стояв туман.
On November 27, 2014, John Lord was solemnly introduced to the residents of the city to the accompaniment of a local orchestra that played "Smoke On The Water". It is symbolic that there was also fog over the river that day.
Місце до речі вибрали не просто так, раніше там любило відпочивати покоління якому сьогодні за 40 та слухати рок-музику. Ну і, взагалі, варто розповісти і про те, що саме з Ужгороду напівлегально розповсюджували по СРСР перші записи гурту з угорського радіоефіру. Власне, не тільки їхні записи, але то таке 😊
By the way, the place was chosen not just like that, the generation over 40 used to rest there and listen to rock music. Well, in general, it is worth mentioning that it was from Uzhgorod that the first recordings of the band from the Hungarian radio were semi-legally distributed in the USSR. Actually, not only their records.
Скульптор зобразив Лорда з довгим волоссям, в ультрамодних тоді брюках-кльош, жилетці, окулярах-каплях і в чоботях на високих підборах. В руках музиканта тліє сигарета, на голові у нього навушники, і сидить він спиною до набережної.
The sculptor depicted the Lord with long hair, in the then trendy flared trousers, vest, goggles and high-heeled boots. A cigarette is smoldering in the musician's hands, he has headphones on his head, and he is sitting with his back to the waterfront.
З однієї сторони його так розмістили для споглядання туману над водою, а з іншої… Я знайшла таку інформацію, що колись Джон Лорд був проїздом в Ужгороді і йому дуже сильно не сподобалась архітектура центральної частини міста, тому його повернули обличчям до річки Уж. До речі, кажуть, щоб знайти своє справжнє кохання слід протерти окуляри ужгородського Джона Лорда.
On the one hand, it was placed to contemplate the fog over the water, and on the other… I found information that once John Lord was a passerby in Uzhgorod and he did not like the architecture of the central part of the city, so he was turned to face the river Uzh. By the way, according to the legend, to find your true love you should wipe the glasses of Uzhhorod John Lord.
