The first time I ever heard of something having coin in its name was onecoin, about five years ago. I guess that at that time the one telling me about onecoin has mentioned something about Bitcoin to, but I hardly remember anything about it.

What I know is that the one that was talking to me about onecoin mentioned that it was a ponzi, that it had the pedigree of such scheme and many have indeed been scammed by that Bulgarian lady who was behind this billion dollars world wide ponzi.

2017 has had Bitconnect as probably the most famous and poisonous ponzi scheme of the the crypto space and many have lost plenty of money investing in such a scam. The marketing has been quite decent for it, although not great, but still a high class scam that somehow stained a bit the world of crypto. Carlos Matos has however become a meme since then.

I have never ever been scammed in my entire life, I guess not being greedy is what has protected me from such experience. I have never fallen for crypto scams or all sort of ponzis and probably never will. I was close to fall for a crypto scam once... There was a Live stream on Youtube that was supposedly held by Brad Garlinghouse, when in fact it was just a recording of a previously held interview, and that live stream was actually a scam.

The ones organizing it were applying the famous crypto technique with the promise of sending you 2X the amount of XRP you would send to a wallet shared by the organizers. I guess you already know the technique and have heard of similar cases, as Brad Garlinghouse name wasn't the only one used for such scams.

Something in me has whispered that it is too good to be true and I haven't fallen for the temptation of sending any XRP to any address claiming to be used to send me back 2X the amount. I can't say I was lucky, but rather lucid enough to sniff the lie. The temptation has been there and I confess it. I am 100% sure that many have fallen for such scams and was curious if any of you around here has ever been in any related situation.

Feel free to share with us your experience, we won't laugh, we promise. It doesn't have to be anything completely similar with what I described, but if anything worth telling about don't be shy...

Thanks for attention, Adrian
