If I were in Miami I would have definitely attended the Bitcoin conference over there. I'm no bitcoin maxi or too much of a blockchain expert, but it sure looks that these guys over there are having a fantastic vibe while discussing the future of finance and Bitcoin.

I believe in a right to privacy.

Perfectly put by Senator Cynthia Lummis who is an ardent advocate for decentralized blockchain technology and innovation through Bitcoin among US politicians. Little did we know, though, that Jack Mallers of Strike announced in Miami yesterday that Bitcoin will be available via the Lightning Network to over 400,000 storefronts and all US Shopify sites.

It is said that the two, Mallers and Lummis were having talks for a while on how to put Bitcoin's lightning network to use for the public and here you have it... The market has not yet reacted to this massive news.

Strike has partnered with NCR - one of the world’s biggest payment processors and ATM operators, that making possible for Strike to integrate the lightning network into retail payments in all sort of locations and online shops across US.

When the whole world, sir?

“Any online merchant that uses Shopify can accept payments without the 1949 boomer network, receive it instantly, cash final, no intermediary no 3% fee”.

“There’s not been since 1949 a superior payments network that allows us to innovate, build on financial inclusion, offer cheaper services faster services. My grandfather used the same technology as I do. That’s not American, that’s bullshit.” Jack Mallers

The announcement has been positively welcomed by folks such as Jack Dorsey of twitter and others, but not all crypto heads are excited about spending bitcoin on bubble gum, cheeseburgers or t-shirts.

"I love everything that’s being built in the payments arena for Bitcoin and applaud the announcements.
I also think that with the current tax code and the urge to hodl that very few people in the USA are motivated to use their Bitcoin to buy shit".

"If Bitcoin becomes the global reserve currency and I can use it without triggering a taxable sales event, then I will become bitcoin native and spend it daily.
Until then, I’m not buying a pair of pants and some Skittles with my coins." Scott Melker on twitter

The Wolf of All Streets is clearly not excited about spending his sats on all sort of items, in the current conditions that the US is accepting bitcoin as a payment currency, or better put, the way Mallers has managed to integrate it through the lightning network.

I know, probably just a few would use it as such and tbh I don't know if I'd use mine as a spending currency either, but knowing that there are apps that convert part of your salary or your entire salary in bitcoin I bet some enthusiasts would love to do that and spend sats instead of dollars for their shopping.

What about you, would use BTC as a form of payment?

Thanks for attention, Adrian
