Sharing two games on Hive that give out high returns in Hive using the hold the token and earn method. For simplicity’s sake, I just peg almost everything to Hive because I don’t have the time to monitor every fluctuation the markets could do in crypto in respect to the USD. Whatever money I put into the ecosystem has always been money I’m prepared to lose and it’s “gambling money”. Not a financial advice, take what is said with a grain of salt. These tokens are available at Hive Engine.

dCrops CROP

The price of a CROP token is at 0.002$ and this have consistent for a long time due to low liquidity inherent in the game’s mechanism. It initially released 500,000 CROP tokens in circulation and every 15 days (per end of season) to players and the max pool has been decreasing 0.5% each season since April 2021.

At the time of this writing, 1 CROP costs 0.0045 Hive, and it takes 20,000 CROP minimum held for 15 days to qualify for the daily Hive airdrop from the game’s reward pool. That’s 90 Hive for 20,000 CROP. You can also choose to buy BETA packs from dcrops shop worth 3$ or 6.186 Hive for the equivalent amount of 2,000 CROP power per pack, that’s 61.86 Hive directly from the game’s store. Another way to reduce your cost is buying from BETA packs from other players less than the store price in SWAP.HIVE, which is around 5.8 Hive per pack (at the time I wrote this).

Nice to know, but what does 20,000 CROP really give you? 0.034 Hive daily at the time of this writing.

{"amount":"0.034 HIVE","from":"dcrops.rewards","memo":"Today's holding reward from dCrops. Total HIVE distributed today: 119.50355766837167, total eligible CROP POWER: 70545008.940, your CROP POWER: 20000.000 your share: 0.0284%, APY: 13.74","to":"user"}

Around 20% if pegged to Hive, and the memo also includes how much APY it is when pegged to USD. The value of the total daily airdrop is dependent on the reward pool, around 0.25% of the total Hive is distributed daily to eligible CROP holders.

If more people buy into the game, the reward pool gets replenished, the account also earns from curation and author rewards published. Right now, DCBETA packs are still available and 30% of the income goes to the reward pool.

dCity SIM

If you choose to hold a minimum of 8,000 SIM Power tokens in your wallet for 30 days, you qualify for the daily Hive airdrop just make sure you logged into the game at least. This value is pegged to the SIM price in Hive and the USD equivalent fluctuates.

The amount of daily Hive airdropped is dependent on the game’s governance where players can use their SIM power to influence the reward distribution. There is a chance that this high APR can be reduced or increased based on how many players lobby the reward pool distribution. Holding SIM gives you access to the player reward pool without actually bothering with the game.

Don’t Play Just Hold Strategy

I couldn’t think of any creative way to name what I do but it’s exactly what I’m doing right now. I have put in a lot of Hive trying to learn the respective games. In hindsight, I think it’s just practically more profitable just to be passive about earning more Hive compared to staking it for a 9-10% average APY from curation. Both tokens give you more returns than keeping your Hive staked.

The risks of getting rug pulled will always be there and this goes for any project you sink your money to in cryptospace. These games give you assets that can be difficult to liquidate, you can get rare NFTs but it’s hard to sell them when you really need to exit for different reasons.

My motivation for playing was initially driven by curiosity in the play to earn space, it had its share of fun trying to navigate the space and come up with different approaches to playing. This experience was mostly from dCity playing with the simulation tab. Once I got bored with the game and couldn’t keep up with the updates, I realized I’m stuck with NFTs I’d have to sell for less than what I originally bought. But it’s fine, considering Hive and the projects that are popping up have their humble beginnings, maybe it’s for the best to just hold these for the next bull run.

If you made it this far reading, thank you for your time.
