IF YOU DO IT LONG ENOUGH, IT STOPS FEELING LIKE A DIFFICULT TASK.

Hello Lions and Humans, greetings. I can't believe how fast the week is going by, where are we all rushing to? If we don't mind I'd like everyone to slow down for a minute for breath catching purposes. Thank you.

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about working and survival and having the mindset of excelling at whatever you do. We already know the best way to get better at what you love doing to is consistency, showing up everyday to put in your best because this is something you enjoy doing, well, it is the same with something you don’t particularly enjoy so much or something that feels like a task. A lot of people are great at their jobs not because they love it so much but because they happen to have been doing it for some time and putting in the needed effort to be good at it.

There is always a normal resistance when we are faced with projects that are a little outside our comfort zone or area of familiarity and interests. It is in fact normal to not be good at a new task because you don’t really like it, as a result of your lack of interest you don’t invest your energy and will into it so you don’t get it. You do it and suck at it, after all this isn’t your passion so it’s okay that you don’t care, don’t invest, don’t grow.

I go by a saying: Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. A little effort goes a long way and not being fond of something is not a good reason to be terrible at it.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT MATTERS.

People matter. The people we work with matter. The people we work for matter. The way we treat people matter and I don’t think it would require too much to have a comfortable and safe work environment. People need people to chase their dreams so I don’t think it would hurt to treat them with decency and not over work them. But we can’t always have it on a platter, we need people management skills to help us learn to work with people, if we can just put a little effort into being decent to people and respect everyone, I think that would go a long way.

Working in hostile environments is a No No from me and I won’t encourage anybody to do it if they can’t handle it. Enduring cruel working conditions is different from the point I’m trying to make here. My focal point is doing something you don’t like or enjoy but still being great at it because you have to.

YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO.

When it comes to chasing your dreams or doing something that would you assure you a smooth living for then you already know what button I would press. There are things you have to do and we can all do them when necessary. There are steps you have to follow to get what you want, they are places you’d have to go, people you’d have to meet and a big amount of time to invest and energy to give. And that’s just how to it is, it applies both to the passion you love to chase and the work you have to do to survive. I don’t think not chasing your dreams is such a bad thing, you can dream new dreams and chase them at your own pace and better timing.

DON'T WRITE OFF A TASK BECAUSE IT DOESN'T INTEREST YOU.

New interests can always be found, new passions, drive and dreams can always be created. I always try to keep my mind open to fresh ideas and opportunity whether it is something I'm naturally good at or not. I love to learn new things and I don't like limiting myself to only the things that feel familiar. Life has a lot to offer so we must always be ready and willing to pick up something new and let life happen to you.

WILL POWER.

One thing that could help is applying a value driven approach and ascertaining how much value and impact the project can deliver in return for doing it. At the end of the day, all that’s required is just a little discipline. I believe we can do whatever we put our minds to do and get better at the things we do if we decide to.

I always tell myself I can do anything I want and it has been evident in my many trades I’ve tried jacking. I’ve ventured into quite some things and I’ve always performed well at them, not necessarily because I’m a natural but because I learned and was interested in learning more.

In the words of a dear friend: do what you have to fo till you afford to do what you want to do.
