Travel the World of Postage Stamps - Development of fishing industry - Tuna (Thunnus sp.) - Cuba 1975 - Michel Cuba 2031 - my hobby.

Greetings friends!

I think that each of us is familiar with a fish called Tuna, common Tuna, Thunnus sp..

We are used to seeing his image on cans, where pieces of this fish boiled in their own juice are kept in vegetable oil.

But, this fish does not get into a tin can by itself, someone, every day, or during the fishing season, goes out to sea and, in spite of ocean storms, will fight with sea monsters.

Yes, imagine some tunza individuals weighing over six hundred kilograms and over four and a half meters in length, lol.

For comparison, a commercial pig that is sent to the slaughterhouse from a pig farm weighs about one hundred and thirty kilograms.

I worked for a while as a supplier in a meat packing plant and I know how difficult it is to get two hundred pigs into a trailer.

What would happen if these pigs weighed six hundred kilograms?

The largest wild boar I saw weighed four hundred and fifty kilograms and the distance from the heel to the ears was one and a half meters, it was a real monster, and the tuna, even larger.

Such a fish can seriously injure fishermen, even with the movement of its tail, it is a dangerous job and in every tin can there is probably a whole story of the battle for the catch.

We can see this magnificent fish on a Series Development of fishing industry postage stamp issued on the island of Cuba in 1975.

This postage stamp received a face value of 2 ¢ - Cuban centavo.

In postage stamp catalogs, it is referred to as - Tuna (Thunnus sp.).
