Travel the World of Postage Stamps - World Fair "EXPO-75", Okinawa - Veined Rapa Whelk (Rapana venosa) - Soviet Union 1975 - Michel's USSR 4377 - my hobby.

Greetings friends!

Today we will continue our walk through the exhibition center of the Japanese city of Okinawa, during the international exhibition EXPO 75 entitled "The Sea and Its Future."

And, in this, we will be helped by another postage stamp from a series of postage stamps World Fair "EXPO-75, issued in the USSR in 1975 and timed to coincide with the participation of the USSR in this exhibition.

Strangely, the USSR did not give the Kuriles to Japan, but they had the nerve to come to visit the one who was robbed, and, Japan, proved to be a very hospitable host who does not remember evil, lol.

So, on the postage stamp, which received a denomination of 4 kopecks of the USSR, we see the shell of a mollusk that lives in the Black Sea called - Veined Rapa Whelk (Rapana venosa).

Since early childhood I have been pulling the rapanes from the seabed. Then, it was a subject for collection.

At that time, no one ate rape. Of interest was only the shell, which was used to make various souvenirs.

The alleys to the Black Sea beaches were scattered with merchants who offered tourists crafts from rapanas and mussels.

But, now, many years later, rape has become a part of the diet of many gourmets, but, unfortunately, or fortunately, I do not understand the taste of this shellfish.

It is difficult to imagine all the money turnover that revolved around these, not very bright shells, but children dreamed of putting the shell to their ear and hearing the sound of the sea, and their parents paid for it.

This postage stamp has received 7,300,000 copies in galleries.

Let's take a look at this postage stamp.
