Splinterlands blockchain game evolves with the speed of light and the SPS governance token seems to give the rhythm and dictate the velocity of things happening around. The Chaos Legion is around the corner and the presale will soon be launched and with that, we see that the SPS holders will see the first advantage of staking the Splinterlands governance token. After today's AMA which just finished a few hours ago, we already see a price rally for SPS as it gained over 12% in the past hour, around 30% in the past 24 hours, and about 40% in the last 7 days.

Some would say that this is the hype for the Chaos Legion launch and after that the current price of $0.34 might push back down. But I think that up until now there wasn't a reference for what the SPS cryptocurrency should be valued at as nobody knew exactly what the future reserves for it. The Chaos Legion Set & Presale Info post gave some clarity on from where the SPS value comes, the plans for the future, and the perks of holding it. And truly after reading it I almost rushed to the market to buy some more, only the inflexibility on doing it fast from FIAT stopped me on that.

A feature that I would like to see in the game and which could come in handy for the new players and simply beginners into the crypto world would be to have an option to buy SPS with Credits. This will ensure that you can do it right in the game without going yourself to exchange, even if behind the scene it might call 3rd party platforms to do that. But would bring tremendous simplicity and simply allow users to fund their Splinterlands account with FIAT and from there to use it to buy besides NFTs also the other game cryptocurrencies like SPS or even DEC. This just crossed my mind and I had to tell it here.

Now coming back to the question that we are all trying to find an answer to: What is a fair price for SPS governance token in Splinterlands? In order to answer that we need to understand what advantages holding SPS brings to the player/gamer/investor. And Chaos Legion shows us the first use cases for that.

Players will need to spend a new VOUCHER token for each Chaos Legion presale pack they wish to purchase. The vouchers will be awarded to all players who have SPS tokens staked in their in-game account based on the amount staked as a percentage of the total staked across all players in the game.

Chaos Legion card packs will cost $4.00 USD each. Bonus packs will be given out for larger pack purchases in a single transaction. The bonus levels are planned to be as follows: 100 - 499 - 10% additional pack bonus 500 - 1999 - 15% additional pack bonus 2000+ - 20% additional pack bonus There will be a 10% discount for any presale pack purchases made using the Splintershards (SPS) token.

SPS first utility is ensured through the VOUCHER system for Chaos Legion presale pack purchases, in addition to the 10% discount for purchasing Chaos Legion presale packs with SPS tokens are just some of the first ways that the SPS token, and SPS stake, will be utilized within the Splinterlands game. The Splinterlands team plans to use the same VOUCHER system, or something very similar, for providing early access to limited releases for new items and features and we also plan to provide discounts and other incentives for spending SPS tokens for purchases in many different areas of the game in the future, where appropriate.

With all these first concrete perks and advantages for SPS governance token, it was normal for the price to rise. And to tell you the truth with the growth of the player base and also the new features that will come to the game I think that the game founders will always seek to strengthen the SPS usability and give it value from everything that they are doing. With this said I think that a price point of $1 is pretty realistic for it. My strategy considering the earned trust will be to ride the SPS airdrop until the end (365 days) and along with that to buy Chaos Legion packs and hold them for the future. I wonder what's your price prediction for SPS...

Come join the good fight in the Splinterlands!
